To this. Came out pretty good for a noob.

But now I need to deal with the server. Some old IT guy built it out of cheap parts almost ten years ago. Is there a /g/ guide to putting a simple file sever together? No real hardware demands but I want swappable HDs and a quiet case. Gonna be running Server 2012 Essentials.

I've never build an office server before. Only simple home stuff out of junk.
>>
>>45931204
Nice job on the cleanup, should make it easier to trouble shoot.

I would look for a Dell r310 on ebay. Small and fast enough and pretty quiet for actual server hardware. I use one for testing and it runs great, raid 10 and 16 Gb runs a few hyper-v system just fine.
>>
>>45931502

That's way overkill for this. They literally just use it as a server for Office documents, plus running some kind of membership database program.

It sits out in the open so I'm trying to go for nearly silent. I was thinking of some kind of mini ITX build.

I don't care about the chichlets, but for fucks sake fix the keyboard layout.

THAT'S ALL I FUCKING WANT, A KEYBOARD WITH THE T420 LAYOUT

also some status leds would be nice
>>

so is there a xX50 line coming or what?

This is relevant to my interests. The T440s is probably one of the best modern professional ultrabooks. If they fix the fucking trackpad and keyboard lay-out, then the T450s will be my next work notebook.

I have my RaspberryPi always on, connected to the electricity. Is there a way to shutdown and turn it on remotely, similar to the Wake on Lan for computers?

Yeah
But one of those claws from those shit type prank stores, and make it hold a flathead from as far away as your cheeto-ass bitch face is, then connect the power pins with the tip of the screwdriver

Boom remote powering

I don't care how gimmicky it looks.

If it doesn't affect the board itself in a negative way, it looks great, and probably even does what it claims.

Are you serious? you're going to insert little rubber dildo-caps into ALL the plugs on the back of your computer? That sounds so ridiculous from an amount-of-effort-required perspective; it probably impedes airflow too so it will cause heating issues...

That keboard is nice, but
>No Meta4

A bit too minimal for me I think.
>>
>>45876869
On the lowest end you can get key caps for ~$20-$30 either by being used or by some site like Massdrop. If you want "good" key caps, expect to spent minimum $50 and upwards of $150.

The reason why they're so expensive is because no one really mass produces them in such large quantities that the price can be reduced all that much. Tai-hao are looking to change that starting mid - late next year with their mass produced PBT keycaps though.
