I'll never understand this meme.
When that old heap came out XP was the standard and it won't get slower when you just keep it running with XP.
Never change a running system, faggots.
It's not like that thing can run shit that needs a "modern" OS anyway.

Who else here is waiting for Zen to build a PC?
whew, didn't know zen could actually build a pc, pretty intense
Because of Intel getting stale-as-shit after AMD stopped being competitive in the high end market I built the rig that I put together January using a second hand i7 950 and motherboard. Some people would consider combining that with a GTX 970 a slightly odd combination, but I do GPGPU work on the machine so the CPU doesn't even matter all that much. I was considering a new rig for quite a long time and put it off until January of last year after the FX-8350 turned out to be such a disappointment.
If Zen is another disappointment then I'll probably stick with my 950, if not, then I'll upgrade my rig with one.
I'll only buy it if the IPC is near Haswell and the 8 core version is under $500
I don't care for TDP, it can be 200W

>staff occasionally read these generals and have posted here before.
>staff may pretend to be normal users asking for invites and when you invite them, they ban you for inviting strangers
>people may report emails and other personal info posted here to staff to get you banned.
>most of the invite offers here are people trolling you with false hope - begging for invites is a waste of time and you should just interview

How does literally EVERY product on Amazon with more than 10 reviews have at least 5% 1 star reviews?
Because there's always gonna be someone that's not satisfied, either because they misuse it or it's not what they expected or it was mishandled etc.
majority of amazon users don't read the description then give it a low rating when they find out it doesn't do what they wanted it to do

Linux will never look this good.
ouch.
You're literally autistic if you can't understand that people can benefit from using Linux even though it doesn't match *your* computing needs.
This is LITERALLY a symptom of autism; being able to understand that other people are independant entities.
I understand this, and I use Linux exclusively. Let that sink in; you're more autistic than someone who uses ganoo slash loonix 24/7. You're not the good kind of autist like I am, who programs robots, maintains personal servers, tries new programming languages, and makes their own electronics. No, that's the smart kind of autist. You're the kind of underdeveloped child-like autist who plays with electronic toys and will die ignorant.
So don't use Linux. Just go back to >>>/v/.

You can get a usb hub that can give you unlimited usb ports.I doubt you need more then one hub(have the company write it off and bussiness expenses) if you do need more just plug another hub to the hub,Infinite cascading.

Is NFC payment from phones/gadgets the biggest tech blunder of the past few years?
>google wallet comes out in 2011; nobody uses it. such a failure that google has to rebrand it android pay
>apple releases Apple pay in October 2014; nobody uses it, some stores with the terminals actually remove it
>AT&T, verizon, and t-mobile try to launch a solution (which they have to rename from ISIS to softcard); people only add cards to get free amazon gift cards and then ignore it
>Samsung pushes their payment solution which can fake the magnetic stripe instead of NFC; people add a credit card to get a free gift card and then ignore it.
Is NFC a blunder? Will stores and the average person ever accept it? Or is it just something for nerds to dick around with at a few stores?
Apple pay is pretty big in the UK.
>>52213168
May be true in the UK but general European/Asian acceptance is lacking.
http://www.breitbart.com/california/2015/12/26/apple-pay-failure-undermined-apples-invincibility/
>With product momentum slowing fast, iPhone use of Apple Pay for eligible 2015 Black Friday transactions crashed to just 2.7 percent in 2015, according to InfoScout. At that level, Apple Pay is just slightly ahead of the 2 percent of eligible transactions captured during Black Friday by Android’s Mobile Wallet.
>>52213155
They're trying to push it too soon after Contactless Cards roll out en mass..Even then, not everywhere accepts contactless, nor does everyone use it even when the stores accept it.
If their goal is to replace Contactless cards, then they need to wait for contactless to become the norm.
Even then, it will be a struggle. Losing your phone can be bad enough with all your information on there, but losing it when you have NFC?, that's another level of panic.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
No news.
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>They’re really cheap when you buy a used one.
>Keyboards feel excellent while typing (yes, even the newer ones).
>Great durability thanks to the inclusion of rollcages and use of glass fiber reinforced plastic for the chassis. The keyboard is splash proof and spilled liquids will drain out.
>Utilitarian design - e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking solutions that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for almost every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing on the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.
