So /g/ what is on your Christmas list?

I am hoping for some m50x's and maybe a new pair of boxing gloves. I need more ideas for things other people won't have a problem picking out (ie. no dragon dildos).

To be fair, that's not what they're talking about. Most people care more about subjective responsiveness than hardcore number crunching.

i remember reading about an iphone app developer forever ago

updated his app to load 2x as fast, but also added spinning wheels to tell the user something is going on while it loads.

People complained the app slowed down, he replaced the app with the OLD actually slower code as a test without the wheels, and people loved the speed increase.

Subjective performance is a much bigger issue than one may think.

That's literally only said by pseudo-tech enthusiasts who want to sound knowledgeable and smart. 99% of Apple users buy Apple because of the shiny logo. The other 1% got one as a gift or was provided one by their employer.

this isnt a bad thing. apple is once again streamlining the change to better sound quality.

instead of the current 3.5mm jack which has been deprecated for years, the iphone 7 will use a lightning port which has is unanmously known for having superior quality than the 3.5mm jack

the only reason the 3.5mm jack still exists is because if ANYONE else besides apple did this, the phone would flop on principal alone. once apple does it, other companies will likely follow suit.
>>
>>51633051
i thought that this would create a thinner phone, after doing a little research im interested, ill probably just buy a three pack of apple (tm) adapters. excited for next September i guess
>>
>>51633051
the 3.5mm jack is not a bottleneck on sound quality, the shitty 128kb mp3s you listen to on your tiny little squeaker can earbuds are. The 3.5mm audio jack is an extremely widespread standard that works fine, and pretty much all audio hardware since the 80s has used.

How do you feel about Apple killing off the 3.5mm headphone jack in order to shave off 1mm of the thickness of the phone?

Apple always removes legacy ports, it's for the best. Devices in the future will have no physical ports.

i mean, could we not design a dummy head with some software that both attempts to either hit some preset sound signatures, or neutral, and at the same time balance the level of the frequencies of the drivers? i mean, theres no way we could get perfect, but thats fine. literally everything is far from perfect in the audio world

You'll be fine.

I have a MSI 390x and my entire system (390x, 16 gigs ram, 4790k) has never gone over 450 watts load while gaming in 1080p. Fallout 4 on ultra makes me hover around 350-375 watts.

You are the owner of a hardware store and need to keep an inventory that can tell you what different tools you have, how many of each you have on hand, and the cost of each one.
Part 1
Implement the class Record that contains the following private and public members

private:
int recordNum;
char toolName [25];
int quantity;
double cost;

public:
void setRecordNumber(int);
int getRecordNumber() const;

void setToolName(string);
string getToolName() const;

void setQuantity(int);
int getQuantity() const;

void setCost (double);
double getCost() const;

Part 2
Write a program for the hardware store with the following functionalities (develop as a menu-driven application):
Function 1: initializeFile
This function initializes the random-access file hardware.dat to 50 empty records.

Function 2: addDataToFile
This function allows the user to input data concerning each tool. See sample below
Function 3: displayFileContent
This function will display the list of tools stored in the hardware.dat file.
Function 4: deleteRecordFromFile
This function will delete a record for a tool that you no longer have in stock.
Function 5: updateRecord
This function will be used to update the quantity on hand. If the hardware store sells an item, you should decrement the quantity, and vice versa, if new stocks are added. Make provisions for these transactions in this function

It's all over the web, yet nobody is talking about it.

I've seen numerous threads in the last weeks on different websites of people speaking of "no signal" and black screen crashes. Most of which with Fermi architecture.

Personally my card (500)stopped working with the 258.78 update.

The funny thing is that ATI's new driver too is killing cards.

I'm smelling conspiracy.

It's what you get for gaymen.

I use my computer for work, use free (as in freedom) drivers, and my computer doesn't self-destruct.

Unfortunately that means that I have to use Intel shit, but as no other modern component manufacturer so actively supports Free Software, it'll have to be that way.
