hey /g/ so long story short I bought an Asus r9 390 strix and am experiencing fps dives on a couple games like Gta 5 and Killing floor 2(maxed out 1080p) Gameplay is usually around 60-80fps and then their will be sudden dives into the 20's. I am not quite sure how to troubleshoot this but Games like Shadow of Morder and Devil may cry seem unaffected(most likely because they are AMD titles) but Even with gta 5 drivers there is no reason for this drop to 20fps
So either I troubleshoot this or I return it and get the Msi or sapphire versions pls help me /g/ you're my only hope.

Sidenote I have a h80i-gt watercooler and my cpu is always quite warm is this normal?

Use Resource monitor in Windows and have it running while monitoring stuff like disk usage, cpu and ram. play the game and then when it drops minimize game and check the monitor to see at which point in time what devices got weird and what ones didn't.
>>
Seems like a bright idea also could it be that the stock overclock is to high?
>>
you fell for the amd meme, its normal

Why the fuck do large companies always suck ass at making good websites?

>oracle, software giant
>website uses clickable divs for links
>slow as fuck
>3rd party account linking is done with a fucking hourly external database sync instead of maybe something that isn't disgusting, like openid
>can't change account linking myself
>"change account linking" form referred to by website doesn't exist
>hotline for my country and language redirects to america nad hangs up on me while I'm in the queue
>only remaining option is "LivePerson chat"
>some murican faggot whose messages are 90% nonconstructive shit like "I appreciate your patience. Please give me a minute to look into that. I value your time."

>base, some shit phone provider, dunno if just for my shithole country (Belgium, the developmental black hole of Europe)
>"budget alert" and other shit scheduled to be sent at 7:00 in the fucking morning even on weekends
>want to change to email
>sections of the website give errors on load every fucking time I load the page for weeks on end
>"preferred contact option" doesn't persist after save, and saving errors half the time
>account has email address, yet another "preferred contact option" (why 2???) wants me to get an email address first

>red cross internal platform for volunteers
>a bottom-fixed toolbar with a logout button? that'll require 20 nested divs, all of which serve only 1 purpose at a time (align to right, align to bottom, set row height, etc), anon

>all companies ever
>overusing js for everything
>overengineering everything
>slow as fuck everything
>nothing is lightweight

I think this is the kind of shit that causes /g/ to say web devs are cancer and web dev is a meme. I work for java dev company and often have to do web frontends. Take it from me, these shitheads give web design a pretty bad fucking name. Kids just out of college do a better job making websites than whoever the hell these corporate faggots are.

Because they don't care, they don't make their business with their website like some shitty startup and let clueless trainees work on them so they get used to the company without caring about the quality of the result
>>
>>51486474
They really should fucking care. Their websites are fucking disgusting and a pain in the ass to use.

For example, because of Oracle's shitty website, I can't view my oracle cert exam results, because they royally fucked up the account linking (you need 3 fucking different accounts to view your fucking cert exams) and managed to make it so that the cert viewer is oblivious of my exams.

Whoever's in charge of shit like this should be shot, fired, and set on fire.
>>
>>51486537
Are you going to stop using oracle products because of that? Are you going to say to your boss that he should change your DB or whatever because their website to manage certs sucks? Are you going to refuse to work with oracle and use your newly acquired certificate?

I can buy this arcade cabinet with two choices:

A 15khz screen
A 31khz screen

I mainly want to play Neo Geo games.

What would be the best choice for me.

Buy the cheaper option, then replace both screen and hardware with a modern screen + computer and install an emulator.

15Khz = actual sdtv/arcade crt, ideal for console/arcade games if you can generate a 15KHz signal (either a pc with the right modelines, actual old consoles/arcade boards), ~576i/288p and under only
31KHz = pc crt, will just werk on pc's without extra work, but not as ideal for low res games, since it can't natively use their modes, good for newer games since they can go higher in resolution (480p+), not compatible with old consoles/arcade boards, unless combined with additional hardware

Recommend me a cheapo motherboard with ddr4 for skylake, /g/
I will finally upgrade my old and loved phenom 965, planning on buying i5-6500, since I won't probably overclock.
It's the one in the image good (msi 170a mate)? live in a shitworld country, and motherboards cost a lot here.
Thanks a lot

Just stick with haswell for the time being mate. They are a better value. Skylake is overpriced and gives little to no performance benefit. Unless power saving is a must.

And for a good value motherboard check the sticky, but I'm in a good mood so check:

>>
>>51486295
Just look at motherboard within your budget. Look at features you need, audio hardware version, vrm phase (not important for locked i5), warranty, form factor and dual card support.
I recommend gigabyte and msi.

Have one of these but they suck. Fan "broke" after a few months. Anybody has some that hold longer? I need them because Alienware can't cool their laptops and they still haven't gotten their head out of their asses. Last thing they told us to cool with 3rd party programms like HWINFO but the laptop fans have only 2 speeds (low and full speed) and I don't wanna kill them, they probably cost 30 bucks each. I need these extra fans or else the CPU reaches 100 degress.

If you don't mind noise larger fans have been more reliable in my experience. Theres a variable speed cooler from Cooler Master that I own. Brought temps from ~55 C to ~50C on gaming.

You might be able to reduce temps better by reducing your cpu clock. Intel speedboost was killing my temps.

Also the mesh and elevated surface a cooler has probably contributes more to cooling than the fans, since your laptop should be discharging heat somewhat well on its own. Heat that is absorbed by the desk raises your temps a lot.
>>
The thing is, they locked everything. Changing the speedboost is not doable in the bios. I might give larger fans a shot if they don't die on me so fast. I still have the mesh thing because of what you said and the fans but 1 fan is about to die (he makes a horrible grinding noise when I start my PC up but most of time it goes away on it's own).

I've been using the
NOTEPAL U3 PLUS from CoolMaster
for my 17R dell laptop for over a year and it's been working great.

Is anything using CPU as well? I can't think of anything that would require 100% of your GPU but not even touch your CPU.

Dislike Mac, W10 privacy settings is freaking me out. So I'm moving to Linux as my primary do-it-all OS; still keeping a dual-boot of W10 just for gayming and other misc. shit. As a new venture in the world of Linux, what distro should I go with. The amount of Linux OSs is staggering, literal paralysis by analysis here.

How common are pic related in the US?

I need to go from glorious Schuko to US plugs, which either means I have to get an adapter for those, or have to get an adapter for non-grounded EU plugs, and then hope to be able to cut out some pieces to make grounded Schuko fit, and just disregard ground (which works OK for my laptop).

so what should I do?

buy an adapter.
Have you never travelled before in your live?
>>
>>51485528

Three prong outlets are ubiquitous. You should get an adapter for two prong outlets too because some older places might have a combination of the two outlets and really old places could still be two prong only.

Hey /g/ what' your favorite chat platform? I'm trying to find something that:
1. Saves chat logs
2. Has a clean, preferably customizable UI
3. Sells as little of my data as possible

Steam chat doesn't save anything, but the UI is nice with skins. Skype is ugly, ad-infested, and sends everything to Microsoft, and Facebook is Facebook.

I've googled everything I can think of for the past few days but haven't had much luck coming up with anything.

Any suggestions?
