>eating dinner
>watching stupid cartoons like gravity falls
>every day, every fucking day i waste my time like this

Is there something both informational AND entertaining that I could watch while eating? It would be short episodes like 10-30 minutes long. But I don't mind if it's longer, I can just split it into separate days.
Does /g/ have any favourite documentaries? Youtube channels? Technology news etc? Any shows that are useful and educational?

Are you so isolated you don't eat with anyone else, not even family? Is the food you make so terrible you can't enjoy it and need to be distracted? Your problem isn't lack of entertainment.

Pretty much everything is slowly getting replaced by machines nowadays.
What are things that absolutely can not be automated in the future?

I'm thinking a machine repair/maintenance guy is the only thing that can not be replaced by machines.

Actually, that's wrong. You could build robots/other software that lets you describe what you want and then creates the software for it.

Why don't you use KDE, anon? Except for a few bad design decisions, it's almost perfect. And it also has we-care-about-our-users features rich file picker.

Can one of you geniuses please explain the Apple-FBI controversy over unlocking the terrorist's iPhone? I get that people are saying that unlocking this phone will have far reaching implications for every iPhone user's privacy but I don't understand why.

That's rude man. I've already admitted that I'm ignorant on this subject which is why I'm asking the question. I've read about it elsewhere but there is a lot of contradictory opinions being tossed around. Just wanted to get the official /g/ consensus.

If it can be done once, it can be done every single time. Also they werent supposed to break the encryption, just remove failsafe which deletes *all* data after a few password tries which didn't match.
Breaking the encryption through brute force even on shit like iphone, depending on the hardware, is weeks if not months. They just asked apple for a hand so they can actually do that.

Also don't worry. On android you just shut the phone down, go to recovery menu, connect it through adb and you are good to go. Fuck this world.

About to build my first pc, pretty much clueless on everything other than what parts are necessary. But I have a stupid question, is it necessary to buy an OS? Windows 7 goes for a kinda high price and I thought that OS's weren't something that people spent much money on. Completely lost on the subject, so it'd be cool if someone just gave me the basics of it.

"Through July 17, 2017, Skylake devices running Windows Embedded 7, 8 and 8.1 will be supported according to the lifecycle support policy for those products. During the 18-month support period, these systems should be upgraded to Windows 10 to continue receiving support after the period ends. After July 2017, the most critical security updates will be addressed for these configurations, and will be released if the update does not risk the reliability or compatibility of the Windows Embedded 7/8/8.1 platform on other devices."

Well, if Steam ever gets off its ass, maybe Linux gaming might happen and I can stay the fuck away from MicroShaft

What exactly does the FBI want from Apple?

They want Apple to create a custom iOS version so that the FBI will be allowed to do infinite brute-force attacks?

Apple doesn't want to do this because they're afraid the FBI will use the custom firmware on other phones, even though they said it was only for one phone?

Why doesn't the FBI just give Apple the phone so they can try to crack it or is Apple too prideful and would never try to crack any iphone under any circumstance?

It is a PR stunt, they have unlocked phones for the FBI several times before

They've been cracking phones for the fbi for years now, they're just suddenly pissy about it for no particular reason that anybody can really identify.
The fbi wants them to keep doing it, but apple says no.
I'm assuming the real reason is this probably ties up their main cryptology engineers, and it's wasting apple's money.

Not correctly, most bruteforcing methods would use dictionaries to make guessing easier, but I think even then that the scond method is more effective than the first.
