I want a freeNAS/PLEX server. im moving back into my parent's house, and while i'm there I want to revamp their media/internet/cable set up. They currently have 3mbps down and .5 up.... but comcast is going to come and lay down cable for 100down and 20 up, i think at $140 a month.... pricey, but whatever.
They currently pay $140 a month for cable, phone, and internet.
i want to set up a computer to capture HD tv, and then send it to the freeNAS box. I want the freeNAS box to then be able to stream 1080p media to 4 devices simutaneously.
Is this build the cheapest I can make it? in a tek syndacate video, they were talking about a plex server with an atom avaton 8core chip that comes integrated on a mobo for $350. Idk if that will be powerful enough to support 4 1080p streams.. maybe 4 1080p streams is overkill..... what do you guys think?

also, the ram i have selected isnt ECC ram, but there is kingston ECC ram for $165 on ebay, so i selected this ram because it was the same price.

I personally have nothing worth backing up, and everyone keeps talking about 'media' servers, but for example for plex, you have to pay money to get the app on a mobile device.
Using it as a torrent box will result in a nice ISP bill and/or jail time. Seriously, what's the point?

2 questions:
1) Is there a way I can set up a hotkey to switch between lanczos and lanczossharp on the fly? My GPU can handle lanczossharp most of the time but when I tried playing a 15GB encode of Interstellar it was dropping a lot of frames. Now obviously lanczossharp isn't needed when the video you're playing is already 1080p
2) Does vo=opengl/-hq work on Wangblows? Or should I be using one of the D3D vo's?

I recommend just not using lanczos at all then.

I think it's needed for chroma upscaling. Dont' quote me on that as I'm vague on what a bunch of this stuff even does.

So, why do people hate Opera aside from being closed source and the low market share?
After 2 years of Chrome (and randomly switching to firefox to see if it's appealing at all, which it isn't for me as of now), I'm trying Opera, which is pretty similar to Chrome with built in stuff. What's exactly so bad about it?

I'd go with physics, and do a few interesting programming courses.
