Maybe you should have researched your school better before applying and dumping $20,000 a semester.

Also that book doesn't seem too bad, it actually explains applications software, embedded software, and gets you ready to learn programming logic which is going to be a drag no matter what school you go to.

>another report about pledge
https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=145218726826754&w=2

pledge() update
>the base tree (/bin /sbin /usr/bin /usr/sbin /usr/libexec /usr/games)
contains 652 ELF binaries. 451 use pledge. 201 do not. Approximately
47 do not need or cannot use pledge. Leaving 154 we could potentially
pledge in the future. Most of those are not very important. There
are a few hot spots, but most of what people use has been handled well
by the team.

sndiod
>The sndiod subsystem now has been privsep'd, and also uses a new
"audio" pledge to contain the ioctl operations against the sound
device.

chrome now supports pledge()
>Robert, with some help from Kettenis for a "drm" pledge to control
ioctls agaist the drm subsystem, recently started using pledge in
chrome. chrome is already designed for sandboxing (it uses seccomp
and various other technology no android and linux systems). pledge
turns out to be an incredibly simple adaptation. This does however
leave us in the strange situation where firefox has W^X but lacks
pledge, and chrome has pledge but lacks W^X.

At what point does a CPU become sufficient for regular non intensive PC multitasking usage?

Like having 10+ tabs, skype video, steam chat, and a bunch of other stuff open without getting stuck and no annoying hangups.

Because a sempron 240 is really not there, gets stuck all the time.

any new 60 quid cpu should be grand, what you're talking about is more ram usage, which 4gb should also be grand.
>>
>>52316994
I have 4 gb and it's not getting filled up

It's not unbearable but this pc is really slow overall with this sempron.

What sort of new cpus go for 60 nowadays?
>>
>>52317013
I'm more familiar with intel. Any of the celeron or pentium new ones should be fine.

For any new cpu you'll probably need a new motherboard as well, and depnding on how old your current one is you might need new ram too.

Tbh, you might just be better off doing a 300 quid new build.

Does /g/ ever get calls from "Microsoft" telling them to shut off their computer because they have a "virus"

One just called me and I told him off but on one hand I kinda wanted to follow his instructions just to see what would happen.

There's this smartphone application that behaves like a two-way radio. You connect to a channel number, and talk to whoever is on the other end. I really like the idea of sharing the channel number on a message board and talking to people from all over the world. It is really interesting talking to anons IRL. The application is called 'Two Way: Walkie Talkie' and is available for Android and iOS.

I'm just wondering what you think about this from a privacy standpoint, and is it of interest to you personally. I've talked to about a dozen 4chan anons this week from many different countries. I love it.

I'm also wondering if you are able to offer a better solution to talking with anons from 4chan.
