Dear /g/.
Is there any technology available which will allow me to see full friend list for someones facebook profile, if the friends are not hidden.
I can already see 40% of the friends, but not all.

Today I was at Starbucks writing my book when I saw a guy using gnuslushlinux. Because I failed long ago for the freeasinbeer meme I knew what was he doing, so I watched him messing one hour with the terminal just to put some icons in the desktop.
The funny part was that all that time that guy keept looking around to see if someone was watching him "being a hardcore code picker".
But that suddenly ended when a group of girls came inside and saw him. At first one said: look, a hacker, and he smiled hard and started to put nonsense commands in the terminal. But then another girl said: don't look at him, he's probably a pedofile, he uses that thing in the netbook. Then he became nervous and started closing all the windows, making his desktop visible. That was his huge mistake, because a big picture of an anime kid girl was in the background.
I can't describe how red he became and the faces of the girls. I just feel so uncomfortable.

Because windows is piece of shit, and I don't have money to buy a Mac.
What ebook readers are you using /g/?
Currently looking into buying one, however I have no idea about them, I am looking into something with Wi-fi and the ability to read pirated pdfs, ebup and whatever else I download that is in a readable format.
Also is there any actual benefit from the e-ink or is a tablet just cheaper and better?
>>54457267
Paperwhite is the preferred reader of Linus Torvalds, it's great
e-ink is readable in all lights. Well frontlit ones are. Like the kobo glo or the kindle paperwhite.
If you're looking for piracy, the kobo series is the best option. I use a Kobo Glo and have done for a long time- the kindles only support .mobi. You can convert to mobi, and it's not difficult, but you're also supporting amazon.
Anyway, e-ink makes text look really nice, and acts like paper. It also is good for battery life since it doesn't use any power at all to retain an image- it's not actively maintained. It only takes power to change the image, making it great for text.

Paper white is the only viable E-reader
Official Thread #054: The "Pascal" Edition
Good Morning,

Direct any and all questions regarding Graphics Cards and Display Adapters here first, including purchase and sale questions:
Use >>>/g/gcg/
For non-related questions, link to find the stupid questions thread:

Support questions should be directed to >>>/wsr/, as per /g/'s sticky. Or just fucking Google it instead of shitposting.

Someone on /g/ earlier this week claimed that Nvidia, with the release of their new graphics cards, had basically declared that they didn't give a shit about the competition, and that they would make the best graphics card they could no matter what. Discuss below, Is the dedicated desktop market actually as important to Nvidia as we all wished it was? OR are they moving/evacuating to greener pastures?
Thankyou.
Whats better to get right now between 980 and 980ti?
SOMEONE BUY MY COMPUTER FOR MORE THAN IT IS WORTH SO I CAN BUILD A NEW ONE KTHX

Probably the Ti
Though the 980 might be easy enough on the wallet to allow sooner future upgrades.

LOL! Stop! No cleaning up. Post a picture of your music player.
post software you hate
Pretty much everything from Adobe - especially Flash and Creative Cloud-software - and Windows 10.
Software developer here, I'm as pro-digital media and anti-artificial scarcity as a lot of techies, but I think a certain amount of digital restrictions management is inevitable. The human race hasn't escaped to the glorious VR waifutopia just yet - we're still living in a meatspace world of scarce resources and property rights to control them.
You can't profit and create redeemable wealth counted towards GDP from any sort of creative work that can be infinitely copied - be it music, film, art, vidya, software, or unique inventions. So what's the creator left to do after investing time and money into a great work that becomes worthless, other than turn to legal protections, which are costly and incur backlash.
DRM is a technological solution to a technological problem. True, no DRM is truly safe from pirates who will crack it just once and produce a superior product. But it can be a semi-effective deterrent at least for a short launch window when most sales are to be made. I see DRM as fundamentally no different from encryption, obfuscation, and user permissions in Unix systems.
That being said, I think once pirates release a working crack a few days after launch, DRM should be removed from the official product. Ideally for software, after support ends or sales stagnate, the source code should be released as well. For games, the source could be free but the art assets would fall under copyright with a cheap license available for purchase - my model for open source, proprietary asset games would be DOOM.
If you think I'm a Jew for desiring to profit off software I devote hours and resources to produce, blame capitalism - not me. By definition, profit-hungry proprietary competitors to FOSS will almost always garner more power and resources, and the few exceptions like the Linux kernel, Apache, or Red Hat only reinforce the rule. It's a classic prisoners dilemma, actually, that surprises me why there are many open source projects at all.
Fuck off, I'm not running your digital locks on my computer just to access things I paid for.
If you do manage to fuck up something I paid for with DRM, i'll just pirate it again to get a clean DRM-free copy, because fuck you.
I want to develop FOSS but shit man, I need to eat. I don't live in my mom's basement or off student loan money like so many of you seem to do.
>I think a certain amount of DRM is tolerable.
I think you're mentally retarded.
What kind of bed do /g/entlemen here use?
Thinking of getting one of those hospital beds for my bedroom so I can lie down in a sitting position.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experienceâ„¢
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", lightweight
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

>"you'll learn how Linux REALLY works!" When it's literally just configuring a package manager and letting scripts do the rest
>offers nothing that minimal net installs already offered for other distros don't
>muh bleeding edge packages!! when you can just install directly from the upstream source in any distro
>only reason to use it is the aur, which is full of broken and unmaintained packages and isn't monitored at all, most "packages" are just a bash script to download the package and it's install script from GitHub
>aur is far worse than Open Build Service, which actually lets you package binaries and programs for multiple distros
It's not the worst distro, but there's nothing it offers that makes it worth using over any other distros and it has the worst fucking user base.
