Thoughts on

http://polarityweb.weebly.com

?
Seems to be nicely packed with features, but scores ~10 points less on html5test.com than latest Chrome Canary.

I'll go to bed and start monitoring on my phone, pls get a nice discussion going. I could really use something better than Chrome/buttnet. Is this it?

I have an issue with my network connection since i upgraded to Windows 10. My wifi disconnects every few hours and then I am unable to reconnect until I restart my computer.

Any ideas what could cause this? My driver are up to date.

Check device power management. It might ultimately be worth your while to purchase a cheap USB WiFi adapter.

Yes you do, and it's called windows 10.

Enjoy sending encrypted screenshots to microsoft.
>>
>>54414515
Damn, I might just have resolved the issue. Power management was one of the first thigns I checked, but ONLY the general power management of my laptop.
Now that I read your reply I checked the power management of the wreless adapter and unchecked "computer may turn off device to save energy" Might that be it?

When will there be actual Social Locations on Oculus and Vive?

Are there any social MMO's in VR?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Altspace?
>>
like >>54414623 said theres altspace, its like a social/hangout thing and you can share videos and shit in real time. theres also bigscreen which lets you vr chill on a vr couch with people you know or there are also open lobbies

as far as actual mmos go though, no there arent any yet. most devs and even valve/rift themselves kinda push away from movement/exploration because artificial locomotion is an easy way to make people sick

theres hover junkers if you have a vive, it kinda just throws you into a big desert on your little hover platform. its not really centered around socializing tho, mostly mad max style fuck everyone.

>>54414481
Yes, it already exists and it is free to play.

Just put down your fleshlight, walk up the stairs, open the door, go down your hallway, say bye to mom, open the front door, and step outside into the world.

Anyone here use Bitwig? I'm thinking about going over to Linux as my daily driver and wanted to see if anyone encountered any Linux issues or issues in general.

I'm coming from OS X and ableton and use almost everything that comes with Suite. Though I also have some D16 plugins.

Also any recommendations for Linux compatible audio interfaces? I was thinking about getting an RME Babyface but I heard Apogee's Duet also works surprisingly without any funny business.

Focusrite Scarlett is pretty decent and works perfectly on Linux.
https://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces

I don't use bitwig, but few of my friends do and swear on it. Personally I stick with pure FOSS audio.

I think the biggest hurdle people have with Linux audio is jackd and just wrapping their head around it. Once you are comfortable, you will miss jackd on all other platforms.

My suggestion is using Debian or Ubuntu as the distro and using the KXStudio repos, they provide a good deal of uptodate FOSS plumbing, effects and plugins.
http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/
They have their own distro, but IMO it's just better to use their repo ontop of Debian or Ubuntu.
>>
>>54414432
just stick on osx, dude... whatever your issue with it is, it can probably be solved by adding ram or getting a newer model
>>
>>54414432
The most used, tested, feature filled, and quality approved software you'd want is:

Digital Audio Workstation: LMMS, Ardour, Rosegarden
Audio Editing: SoX, Audacity
Synthesizer: ZynAddSubFX, AlsaModularSynth
Software Sampler: Hydrogen, orDrumbox, LinuxSampler
DJing: Mixxx

LMS alone has more than Bitwig. But use what you want.

what's up /g/?

I'm getting ready to make the switch to GNU/Linux on my work computer. I maintain about 50 users in a Windows environment and want a distro that will easily integrate with AD. Most of what I do to support users involves remote desktop and web applications, so I don't see any downside to this.

Have any of you employed /g/entoomen done anything like this? I'm thinking OpenSUSE would be a good choice as I know Yast makes it fairly simple to join a domain. Fedora is also possible contender.

What does /g/ think about used tech?

I just bought a T510 for 100 bucks and an Macbook Pro late 2008 for 150 bucks. They still are top notch if you now how to upgrade the parts and tread them well.

I also got a Galaxy S4 for 50 bucks ( what a steal) it was in top notch condition I just rooted and installed Cyanogen on it and it works perfectly fine.

Do you personally buy used tech? Or are you afraid of broken shit?

What used tech did you buy in the last months?

used, a.k.a. refurbished is always my first look before I go for anything new, as you can usually get better specs at a lower price
>>
Only very rarely for personal use, like if I just want to play around. More often it's that I know someone who's tight on money and I'll offer them my time to make the most of a very old and very cheap thing that they need.

Does the HTC M8 still hold up well say if I threw a custom rom on it? Are there even any decent custom roms for it?

>The camera is fucking horrid.
Don't care for the camera, hardly use it
>>
It's a piece of shit that won't hold up long enough to function as a phone. My speakers blew, my earpiece went out, and finally my microphone went out so no one could hear me. The camera had a known issue where it loses the ability to focus and just vibrates grasping for anything. Device didn't even last 12 months before these issues started

Fuck HTC. They're worthless

What a shit thread but ill respond. I don't have a mail server because the intricacies of setting it up to be secure and reliable is too much of a headache. I only rely on Google for search and mail now after ditching android so I've cut them off a little bit.

I have an interview with someone who is arguably the #1 authority on Artificial Intelligence in the world. I can't say who he is but you've probably heard of him, you've definitely heard of the institution with which he works. He's personally acquainted with the likes of Elon Musk and Bill Gates.

What questions do you have for him?
