G'Day /g/

I was directed from /pol/ to here to ask this

I was recently alerted by an Anon on /pol/ about google keeping search records on your computer from years ago.

How can I prepare my PC and mobile devices so that they can remain private as best as possible???

there is nothing you can do about that, the search will still be kept on google servers and linked to you (you might request to delete it but its just a smoke screen)
check you google search account settings (top right gear)
also, fuck of back to /pol/

Anyone know why a lot of the live TV streams aren't working on Kodi? Phoenix, cCloud TV, etc about half the streams won't work. Also noticed that virtually nothing works on stream2watch.co either.

What's going on?

Hey /g/,
I'm looking to build a PC after a two-year hiatus (been using a macbook b/c of work for everything) and was wondering what tips anyone has for me. I'm still in college, so my budget isn't the toppest-tier, but I want to make sure I'm making all the right choices for this investment. I'm pretty knowledgable about what hardware to get; I'm mainly wondering which bundles of software I should install (security, device/drive management, etc) first to help ensure optimal performance and maintenance? Thanks!

How do you use them to make your life easier? What's your setup like? I've just used basic dwm features for years.

I use Fluxbox with a Ruby script I wrote to do tiling.

I don't need dynamic tiling, I have static tiling with Fluxbox's configuration and do some scripted tiling with the Ruby script.

Where scripted tiling means half screen and full screen respecting the setup from the static tiling.

I have a small terminal on the bottom, so the half screen starts from the top and fills the screen until the beginning of the bottom terminal.

Full screen starts from the top and stops at the end of the screen minus the height of one line in the bottom terminal, so the GNU screen hardstatus is still visible.

I use the GNU screen hardstatus for all kinds of information, from notifications to the typical system information I need to look for.

The GNU screen hardstatus is implemented with a daemon written in Ruby and a simple DSL to update the various elements in the hardstatus, then it responds to requests on a UNIX socket so the left or right side of the hardstatus can be fetched with the current contents.

Then a simple C program connects to the UNIX sockets, fetches the dynamic hardstatus content and prints it so screen can use it, since the C program takes 1ms to do its thing it doesn't make the whole thing lag like it would do if you used a dozen scripts in your hardstatus.

I am aware the way I set this up is absolutely convulted and retarded but it does exactly what I need and exactly how I want it.

/g/, someone just stole about 50 tomatoes from my garden. I live in an urban area and am growing them in my front yard. Obviously I should have known better, but now I'm looking for solutions.

Can anyone recommend a good motion-activated outdoor camera? I'd like one that uses WiFi and can "ping" my phone to let me know when the camera has been tripped, as well as one that either allows video recording or can easily be used in conjunction with free recording software.

Budget is about $100.

Is it worth it for $200? I'm looking for a good camera phone for around that number but, i've heard that windows fucking sucks.

It looks like a good camera phone. And windows phone is pretty good assuming it has the apps you use on store.
>>
Had one, broke it because I'm clusmsy with all my phones. Yes the camera was good. Best I've ever had on a phone. DXOMark, which I've used to compare all my phones before I bought does say there are several better phones on the market now.. but for 200 unlocked that is pretty good. Hard to beat that detail and still impossible against that sheer resolution.

And yes windows phone does suck. I don't think Android is perfect and may go back to Apple, but I do prefer both. The app availability was shit and the stock interface lost its appeal over time.

I have been wanting to create a website for about a year now. And I have been digging around online and the only thing I can find is stuff saying.

Maybe you should have spent a year googling "how to code a website myself"

Learn HTML and CSS fi you want to really code it yourself. If you want anything interactive or content that changes, learn PHP as well.

It's probably easier to install a CMS like WordPress or Drupal. WordPress is easy to get started with so I would recommend that. You barely have to work with anything technical once you get it up and running.

If you want to play around first before you pay a hosting provider, download WAMP Server onto your computer if it's running Windows. This'll let you play with Apache, MySQL, and PHP -- all 3 which are required for WordPress to run.

Why switch to Dvorak? Why is a faster WPM important for you?
>>
>>55417168
Not op, but faster WPM usually means more comfortable and intuitive finger movement, which helps you even if not trying to be fast.
