K so, I forgot both my root and my user password for my Debian laptop. Long story short, I have a strong password policy so I make up these weird long passwords.. forgot to document it though... (passwords expire every 25 days, was in school and it prompted me to change so I did.. didnt write it down on my notebook)..

Good news is, I remember my encrypted HD's pass, so its all good. Wondering if I can recover the password or do I have to put a live cd and back up all my data (fucking lazy so I really dont want to).

do you boot through grub?
>>
>>54488193
Yeah I use Grub
>>
>>54488214
Should be a (recovery mode) option in grub and then once in you can change root password. UNIX password.

type "passwd" which will allow change.

My PSU is fucking up so it looks like i need a new one.

dont know much about them. all the gold rating and stuff. all i know is my current one is 750W.

what are some good, quiet psu's? does brand make a difference? should i just get a cheap one?

ive got a Sapphire R9 390, i7 3770, 16gb DDR3.

the 750W is enough, but should i go up to 850W?

Got Some Questions about SSDs before I join the cause

1. How big is the difference between TLC SSD lifecycle vs a regular HDD lifecycle? Does TLC still win?

2.Between a slower MLC vs a faster TLC that is a bit cheaper, which is a better option in terms of daily use?

3.Is arconis true image basically the option for backing up your old shit or do you guys recommend something else?

4. Is there any limit to how many times you can reinstall your OS on a ssd (if my CS architecture class memory is correct)?

I came to /g/ to start a Machine Learning and Data Science general.

Explain to me why this will or won't work out. If you yourself have started a general, explain to me the joys and sorrows you have faced.

Reasons it will not work out:
- /g/ is not smart enough for this
- there is not enough anime involved
>>
>>54487554
brother, are you meming at me? I've seen a number of /g/ threads (though I don't come here often, I admit) where some very motivated people post.
>>
>>54487554
>>54487568
and besides, one can turn the ML gaze towards anime and decide issues like "is this anime" or "is this Enokido" or "generate an Enokido"

You must not do graphical design and photo editing. The trackpad is far superior compared to a mouse for these kinds of tasks.
