Ubuntu is quite good, but find a desktop environment you like. I use Ubuntu gnome, because I like gnome 3. Some like standard unity, but you can also find xubuntu with xfce, kubuntu with kde and lubuntu. Look at screen shots or boot them up on a USB and see what looks best. You can usually costumise a lot later, but starting out close to how you want it to look is good. You should also have a look at Linux mint with either Cinnamon or MATE. Mint is similar to Ubuntu in all important ways. Ubuntu is good because most solutions to problems have a Ubuntu solution.

I've recently upgraded some stuff on my PC, and with the leftovers i'm mounting another one for my gf.
Problem is, I can't find a mobo for mini-itx with 1155 sockets.
This is somewhat the thing i'm trying to do.

So I've heard that 320kbps can actually add artifacts to the music, while Variable Bitrate (V0) is optimized for to closely match the source.
But I've also heard that V0 may lack some frequencies and sound worse.
Settle this once and for all and tell me the truth /g/.
I don't know how is it with other encoding tools, but v0 encoded with lame preserves all frequencies from the lossless source, where 320 cuts them to about D#.
Not that it makes any difference when a normal adult can hear only up to about C or C#.

so far so good. was getting wifi signal issues with the factory rom so I figured I'd give it a try. able to specify channels and shit with this so at the very least it's stronger.
everything else I have is hard-wired... only advantages here are more control over ports and static IPs, forwarded ports, dynamic dns, etc.
it was the cheapest gigabit wifi router I could find.
Aside from speed, is there any reason to use Debian over Ubuntu?
