Is microsoft trying new ways to make you install windows 10?
Story time:
So a couple of weeks ago windows 10 download popped up on my desktop, i simply ignored it and deleted it from computer. I'm already happy with windows 7, but anyway lets get back to the story. After i delete win 10 pop up, i install updates for my windows 7 computer. I always install updates and keep my computer up to date. I have been installing everything, except the optional stuff. 2 days ago i had like 20 updates i was like wtf? and tried to install them and left it on all night to install. Basically what happened was they never installed it stay at, "preparing to install", i tried to restart my computer all the updates failed. I tried fixing all of this with microsoft tools, and searching for updates again using standalone tool and some other shit. Basically, all the updates failed i can never search for the updates i left it on for a night, still said searching for updates. svchost (wuauserv) uses 25% of my cpu even though i have 0 updates left to install, because they ALL FAILED. Plus the windows 10 pop up cameback? microsoft are faggots. what can i do? clean install windows 7 or get windows 10 and give in?
Windows 10 is free and great. There is no reason to not use it.

You guys really need to lay off the "linux is perfect" and "windows 10 spyware" memes.
My roommate told me his plans yesterday of building a $800-1000 linux gaming desktop. He was planning on playing games through a Windows virtual machine with dual graphics cards.
I had to go out of my way to convince him that it was a terrible idea and that if he really wanted linux, he should just setup dualboot. He didn't want to do it initially since he wanted a computer that he could quickly switch between gaming and development, but then I reminded him SSDs exist.
So let's hear other stories of people you know having stupid ideas about technology.

It's more reasonable than buying an Xbox or PS4 gaming console. GNU/Linux has more games on Steam that run natively than both of those consoles have combined. Then thousands more not from Steam or ones that run through WINE

Given that Nvidia is already planning on binning GP100 Tesla cards for defective interposer assembly (cards shipping *this Winter*), what are the chances that the consumer GP102 will really use HBM?

It's gonna be 384b GDDR5X at 10-12 GT/s for 480-576 GB/s.
Enough to compete with a 2x-3x HBM2 card, but a lot toastier.

Sweet spot for 1st gen 14/16 nm enthusiast cards would be 400-450 mm^2 with ~500 GB/s bandwidth, which is basically 2x a RX 480 or 50% beefier than a 1080.
This could be done with either HBM 2 (more cost for lower power) or GDDR5X (more heat for less cost).
The 2nd gen. 14/16 nm cards (600 mm^2 spiritual successors to 980Ti/Titan X and Fury) that come out next will almost have to use HBM2 to get enough bandwidth though.
