I hate Windows 10 and his older siblings 8 and 8.1 is there some sort of
modded windows 10 that has a complete windows 7 theme? From boot-logo to
logon screen to desktop just like windows 7, isn't there anything? Or am i
asking this too early?

classic shell+custom theme

That would still leave the logon screen the same and the boot logo, are they not modifiable?
>>
There are things called skin packs that allow the user to change the theme of their wndows OS to something else (taskbar and window textures etc..)

The only requirement for something to be open source is that the source is distributed with binaries. So if they have software that they use internally only and never distribute outside the company, it could be said that the software is "internal open source".

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.

There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:

0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with GNU/Linux

Before asking, please search for answers to your questions in resources.

Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.

Understand that much of your software from Windows will be unavailable, although maybe WINE can make up for it.

How come every time I try to install a distro the installer wants internet access, but I never have it?
So far I've only been able to figure out how to properly install mint because the wireless broadcom drivers are included in the live USB.
If I wanted to install a different distro how would I get the wireless drivers if internet isn't working at all?

I work at a shitty startup that doesn't think or plan and is just results focussed. Literally the first thing that works will do.

They corrupted someone's server on the 1st deploy.

How do I find a tech job that's no like this? Or do I just suck it up and do what I'm paid to do, give them fair warning, and let them deal with the fallout if they don't listen?

>>
>>54666829

Are there even any jobs at all that aren't totally results based and have no forethought?
>>
>>54666829
I have a feeling this is kind of normal. If you have a thing for good, sane and beautiful software, you'll always be disappointed by how much activities that are not immediately customer result-oriented are seen as a luxury and any initiative in that direction is brought down with phrases like "yea sure anon you can do that if you like to work unpaid overtime".
This is even worse in non-startups because the old "we always did it like this / xyz is like this for historical reasons" folks tend to be in charge. And the bigger the company, the more bureaucratical bullshit will stand in your way.

tl;dr Real life tech is an ugly clusterfuck on every level and the more you understand the more uglyness you'll see. Suck it up.

>do what I'm paid to do, give them fair warning, and let them deal with the fallout if they don't listen
this, but also start looking for a new place. it's not healthy to stay in shitty environments

Just got my oculus.
>Inb4 he fell for the oculus meme
Jokes on you, I accidentally preordered 2 (PayPal credit), and I'm selling the second on eBay. Already up to $850 bid, and I've got 4 days left.
>Inb4 op can't inb4

Things I've noticed, so far...

>vr software, at this point, is more like a bunch of early beta concepts, than fleshed out games, but still fun. A bit like using the Internet in 1998. Large potential for fun, but it's not quite "there" yet.

>oculus is extremely well designed, and touch will make it all the more fun. Still, version 2 will likely be the definitive vr device, especially if GPU technology catches up.

>no overbearing advertising (or any advertising, outside the market) on oculus, yet. Facebot seems to be keeping their noses out, at the moment.

>vive chaperone system (I've demoed a vive) is brilliant, and the motion controls are extremely fun, making vive the better device at this very moment, but steam vr is pretty shit, compared to oculus home, and the device feels even more like a dev concept, than oculus. Once touch comes out, vive may just be in trouble

>360°works in oculus, but I can see why they would want to limit things to 180°. It's easy to get tangled up in even the single cord of oculus, much less the 3 binded cables of vive

>streaming vr porn is shit quality, because the sheer filesize. downloaded vr is better, but it's pretty much exclusively pov, and there's very little variety. It's good, yeah, but if vanilla pov doesn't sound like your fetish, it's not worth it for the porn... Yet...

>no good vr waifus yet, but I expect them soon, especially as more people pick it up

>vr sickness isn't much of a concern, but eye fatigue is

>virtual desktop is based as shit, and should be the first thing you install. With some development, it will be truly great.

Questions? Experiences? Ideas for programs/ gaymes?

>>54666745
I don't like that oculus is doing things this way, but I can understand why, from a developer standpoint.

I'll put it this way. There is alot more garbage on Steam VR than oculus store, at the moment, and the ui is miles better for the platform. For the average rich kid who's new to PC gaymen, oculus store is 100x more user friendly, and if they want the platform to succeed, this may turn out to be a smart move.

if the server's owner is so poor, then why do they allow Google to index their images in the first place?

Is there any point in getting a Blackberry Classic at this point?
I've been using android since 2009, but I'm really tired of it now and I can't be fucked for iPhone. I miss the physical keyboards of blackbery and I generally don't like touchscreens very much
I get a new classic for about £200, should i go for it?
Or is there something else I should consider? Should I wait for the rumoured android running blackberries later this year? Though I'd prefer to not spend very much

BB10 is a dead platform now

Shame really, as it has the best security and OS design out of all platforms (muh QNX microkernel)

>>54666502
so it's still usable but they won't be updating it anymore?

it's completely dead, no updates, no dev support
