Why is intel giving me no reason to upgrade from an i7-4770k.
the consumer market is putting emphasis on power consumption.
the 2500k is slated to last until y2500 at this rate.
>>53914792
you meant 2600k :^)
>>53914771
Because there will be no performance improvements anymore which are worth changing your CPU. Now it's only about power consumption and energy efficiency. Portable devices and HTPC are the future of tech development for at least next 10-20 years or so, nobody cares about consumer grade traditional PCs. If you are interested in raw performance then you should start saving money for workstation aka server grade hardware.

I would like to control keyboard (and mouse if possible) inputs for my Laptop, from my desktop.
What i ideally want is a way to plug a usb cable between my PC and Laptop and have my PC send keystrokes, that will mimic an actual keyboard (and mouse) being plugged into the laptop, so that a script is indistinguishable from a human press. (no programs running on my Laptop).
Is such a thing possible? or will I have to build a robot with motors and have a stick poke the required keys?

Why are all laptops so fucking ugly, /g/?
I'm looking to buy my first laptop and they just look so awful. All the laptops that have some sort of good looking design has some sort of flaw that makes it not worth buying
Macbook = mac os
Chromebook pixel = overpriced as shit and chromium os
Is there any other laptop that is aesthetically pleasing as a Chromebook pixel or do I have to have to throw my autism aside to buy a laptop?
>>53909895
put linux on the pixel... mmmmm... sexy
We need laptops with glass lids and aluminum bezels.

List what you want in your perfect laptop without referring to the flaws or strengths of a brand and we can begin our discussion there

I am drunk and I'm going to the pub (again) soon. But until I do. Ask a UK gamedev who spent over a decade in this shittty industry anything.
No dirt too dirty. Entry salaries start from 18-21 depending on region. A normal programming job in a sane industry for a graduate is 30-35K. Why do we do it?

What's the comfiest GNU/Linux distro and why it is Debian stable?
>it just works
>maximum stability
>updates don't break your system, programs you love don't get new bugs because of >muh updates. Predictability that lets you focus on your work.
>most used Linux distro on servers, so what you learn on your desktop is applicable on servers
>community-based instead of corporate-based like Red Hat/Fedora and Ubuntu and follows an open development model
It's great
Anyone who says it's too stable has never used sid
Not that versions really matter beyond compilers and interpreters.
>>53915623
Why did stallman stop using it again?
>>53915723
Because it started including nonfree software in its repositories
ie chrome, steam, etc.
Just bought one of these.
Still no regrets for some reason. I think it's the tacky green case; nearly creamed my pants just looking at it.
Should be fun to play with too despite it being overpriced, like, seriously. Probably would get better value for money playing roulette at the casino.

Hi /g/. I have been using Microsoft Edge as my daily driver since July of 2015. Ask me Anything.
Pros:
1. It's faster than Chrome at both loading pages and starting up.
2. Beats Chrome at JavaScript benchmarks.
Cons:
1. No Extensions.
2. No WEBM's.
(these two will be fixed soon)
3. Less HTML5 compliant than Chrome.
I'm going to hop in the shower. I'll answer your questions when I get back.
>>53912660
What do you do at Microsoft? I'm looking for a job after school and was wondering if you can put in a recommendation for me. Thanks.
I've been using Edge longer than you have, who gives a shit?
You don't have a blue badge so it doesn't matter.
>>53912691
And Edge isn't "less HTML5 compliant than Chrome"
Edge implements every required spec of HTML5 and is beginning to implement every required spec of ECMA6.
The only reason chrome and firefox report higher scores on HTML tester sites is because those sites are biased towards optional features that Google and Mozilla packed into HTML5 for no reason other than to shill their garbage.
What's the /g/ browser of choice for pic rel?
Firefox with Stylish with dark themes for your amoLELd screen
Naked Browser.
Fast, responsive and a simple UI without bloat.
I don't spend enough time on public transportation to seriously browse the internet on my phone.

I hope they make it possible to reduce the brightness and contrast for at night, I'm hooked up to an lcd screen and at night it melts my eyes, I have to get the remote and go through the tedious motions of changing settings.

Linux is still trying, because you know, users can make their own themes as always. Same as Windows.
