I would like to control keyboard (and mouse if possible) inputs for my Laptop, from my desktop.
What i ideally want is a way to plug a usb cable between my PC and Laptop and have my PC send keystrokes, that will mimic an actual keyboard (and mouse) being plugged into the laptop, so that a script is indistinguishable from a human press. (no programs running on my Laptop).

Is such a thing possible? or will I have to build a robot with motors and have a stick poke the required keys?

My question:
Is a laptop with
>4GB ram
>Intel celeron n2840 (2 core, 2.1gHZ up to 2.6)
>No dedicated graphic card
enough for normie use?
Gotta help gf mom find a cheap laptop, found one with those specs that look abysmal for me, but I was wondering if those were enough for normie use (web browsing, photo archiving and watching).
I also know she won't fill it with malware, since her old one is clean after years, so I don't have to account for that.

I asked in the last thread already, but nobody could help me, so I'll try giving a little more detail.

My problem lies with Windows 10. I simply can't get it to run for some reason. The same happens with Windows 8 too, with the exact same error. The odd thing is, I run Windows 7 without an issue, so I can't imagine my SSD being defective. It can't be a dual boot problem either, since I tried installing only Windows 10 clean, and it produced the exact same error.

The issue is that it always freezes during boot, stuck in the state you can see in the pic. The only solution is shutting down via power button. I am able to boot into safe mode, but nothing I could do there helped so far. Even with networking enabled and LAN drivers installed, the Ethernet adapter is impossible to enable (it says "Disabled" no matter how many times I press "Enable) and it keeps telling me how certain apps are unavailable with the built-in Administrator account.

I installed with Legacy BIOS settings (no UEFI) on an MBR partition. My mainboard is an ASUS P8Z77-V LE PLUS, which distinctly mentions Windows 8 compatibility at the very least. I also tried going from DVD to bootable USB drive, which didn't help either. Anybody got any ideas?
>>
I have two laptops (L450, MBP), an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One I want to have setup on my desk using a single monitor. The MacBook, Xbox(x2) will be setup permanently with the L450 being my work laptop that gets carried around to meetings, and then home.

I'm not some uber gamer who needs 144hz etc. I just want all my stuff together in a neat area that doesn't take over the rest of the house.

Am I best to use a KVM switch to control this clusterfuck and have a single keyboard and mouse for the two laptops, or just use the inputs on the monitor for each device and plug in the keyboard and mouse as required? Any downsides to KVM switches?

Overclocking is fine, I think that anon just wanted to know whether you feel you need extra performance, and if so, for what tasks. Overclocking your CPU probably won't make your games (you have a well-performing GPU, so I figure you play vidya) run faster, if that's been a concern of yours, for example.

Depends on your patience, really. Even if AMD announced their first HBM2 cards for this year, 1. first announcement dates are often wrong, and 2. the first cards are going to be lower-rated. Not sure how it works at nvidia, but with a new generation, I wouldn't buy day 1, I'd wait at least a month or two, to see whether there's any major issues.

That said, buying a new GPU now might not be the best time. When the new gen releases, prices may drop for older cards. But really, with these things, you'd have to be an oracle to know for sure. Personally, I would stick with the 960 for now and wait. Even if Pascal sucks shit, chances are you could get another 960 for lower prices then.

Could I buy from the Excellent tier on http://www.logicalincrements.com/ with most expensive parts in each category except GPU (for which I'll get the R9 390), and then later when I'm in a better financial position get a second R9 390 without upgrading any of my other parts? Like will I get most of the benefits of the Enthusiast tier if I do this? I really need to get something fast for Dark Souls 3 release date but I don't have enough money to buy frm the Enthusiast tier.
>>
>>53915862

what's a better resource then?

I have no experience with putting together computer parts, I wouldn't know. I want to skimp out on anything unnecessary and get something by end of next week for DS3, with the option to upgrade later on without wasting parts I just bought. So I should have around €1000 to spend at first.

99% chance it won't break. But if it does, you can always repair GRUB with a LiveCD. Windows loader is allocated elsewhere (a hidden partition made by Windows install) so you can always get it back.

Question about design patterns I guess:
In a little game I make (C#) I have a objects that derives their properties from "models" like this for example

public GameTile(GameTileModel model, int x, int y) { ... }

My GameTile will derive its color, texture, speed modifier, etc. from its model.

For now I use this way to define my models :

static class GameTileModels
{
public static Dictionnary<int, GameTileModel> FromIds = new Dictionnary<...>();

public static GameTileModel Void = new GameTileModel(...);
public static GameTileModel Grass1 = new GameTileModel(...);
public static GameTileModel Rock1 = new GameTileModel(...);
...
}

I add models to FromIds in the constructor of the models and use either FromIds or the obejct themeselves outside this class to access the models.
However I now find this pretty ugly
and would like an alternative. Anyone got a better pattern to define "properties" objects like this ? Note I don't want to define the models in an XML file.
Sorry for the lack of formatting I never post code.

I want to try and get into using RSS, how should i go on about it? I researched, and i know what it is and how it is. but don' really know any good program to use it. Anything you guy use?
any tips on this matter?

What kind of news sites do you guys use?
So far i've been mostly using various 4chan boards as news source, but its proving hard to control with all the sidetracking i end up doing.
i guess needed topics would be: political, media related such as chink and non chink cartoons, movies, comics and novels, as well as video games. would really love one that covers various sides of a medium ith the least amount of clickbait.

is there a program that can be used as a hub to let me stay updated on various soial media, video sharing and news outlets and notifies me of anything new after every specific interval of time

I'm very new to git and GitHub. I found a simple issue I could solve in another repository, so I forked the repo and added a branch with my fix. I also added a pull-request to the original repository.

However, now I have two pull-requests: one on the original repo, and one on my fork. Do I merge the commit on my fork? What will this do to the branch and how will that affect the original repo's pull-request? If I merge the commit and pull-request on my fork, will the original repo just be merging the same fix, or merging the entire fork?

JSON is damned simple. You have just a few kinds of things:
Numbers: Everything's floating point, double precision. Just write digits, use E notation for large numbers, like 6.5E6 for 6.5 million.
Strings: "Strings" go in "double quotes". "Use a backslash if you have \"quotes\" inside a string, and a \\double \\backslash if you have \\backslashes in your string."
Booleans: Write out true or false.
Null: null
Objects: These go in {braces} and contain comma separated key/value pairs. A key is a name in quotes, and a value is any of the above types, an array, or an object. Objects don't have classes, they're just key/value stores. For example, {"OP": "fag", "posts": 9001, "girlfriends": [], "housemates": [{"name": "mom"}, {"name": "dad"}]}
Arrays: They go in [brackets] and can contain 0 or more comma separated things of any type. Mixing types inside arrays is allowed.

If you're using Javascript, parsing JSON is as simple as putting '('...')' around it, feeding it to eval() and storing the result. To convert an object to a JSON string, just JSON.stringify(myObject), where myObject can be a number, array, string, object, etc. Note that if you put something that has a class into JSON, it won't have a class when you convert it back; it'll just be a generic key/value object.

When it attempts to boot the asus logo appears but im unable to enter the bios using the function keys and a few seconds after the logo appears I get a "input not supported" error. Ive tried two different monitors. My display is hooked through my video card via VGI and my only motherboard direct display is hdmi and I dont have an easily accessed HDMI display as it would be a pain in the dick to climb behind my entertainment center and use my TV.

Did I fry my motherboard? Im getting a sinking feeling that I did because when I boot with no ram in I dont get the beeps that I would normally expect. I was very careful to not fuck anything up during installation but I guess things happen.
>>
>>53921493
Wrong. PnP and UPnP are different beasts.

PnP: Normal hardware Plug 'n' Play. This detects hardware when you add it, tries to find a driver for it, downloads drivers from Windows Update when needed, etc. Do note that it might offer to always download additional software for devices automatically. This is usually nice but sometimes a trap. I plugged a MS mouse into my laptop. It automatically downloaded and installed the IntelliPoint utility, which completely fucked my touchpad driver's settings page in the mouse control panel.

UPnP: This allows a program to request port forwardings. Again, handy, but potentially a trap. It allows devices to discover each other on a network. For instance, when Windows sees a printer or TV on your network and lists it in the devices window so you can use it without telling your computer it exists first, that's UPnP.

The UPnP service on Windows lets other things on your local network see your computer and services hosted on it. For you this probably means your computer showing up as a "media device" to other computers, TVs and whatnot. This can be useful if you share media files from it, since things like smart TVs could see them and let you play them easily.

Seriously, don't buy games unless they're DRM free or have a minimally intrusive DRM scheme. Online-required and similar bullshit can fuck right off, even for multiplayer games. Too much potential for the server to go down, leaving you with a completely unusable game.

I'm trying to figure out how tall Martin Shkreli is. The web says that he's 5'7, but he looks like he's maybe 4'10 at most in this picture.

Could anyone identify what monitors those are in the background so I can get an estimate on how tall he really is using their dimensions? It seems that he is about 4 monitors tall.

Holy fucking shit, it's 2016 and printers still can't fucking work like they are supposed to. I JUST WANT TO PRINT A PAPER FOR FUCK SAKE. Every fucking time, every single fucking time I had to reinstall the retarded 200mb drivers and then opt-out every single option. I don't want a fucking hp account, I don't need the fucking weather, I DONT NEED UPDATES RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND. Why the fuck can't it work, I think the reason it that windows keep REDOWNLOADING THE FUCKING DRIVERS EVEN THO I HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED THEM WHICH FUCKS IT UP!

Does anybody know a mouse that has a scroll wheel on the side that can be used as a regular vertical scroll? I looked at the logitech MX Master, which looks awesome, but the scroll wheel on the side cannot be mapped to work as vertical scroll, only horizontal and other gimmicky stuff.
I have carpal tunnel, and using the regular scroll wheel on mouses fucks my hand up. But not using scroll fucking sucks, so I just want a scroll wheel on the side for my thumb.

Help me /g/.

Anyone?

Im trying to get a 2nd opinion fast so I can ship it off tommorow if needed

No, unless it supplies more power and tells the phone it does.

Don't vape, it's at least as addictive as smoking, and still bad for your health even without the tar.

All printers suck. Cheap consumer printers suck the big one though, as do all all-in-ones.

I've been fairly impressed with how little Brother's home laser printers suck though. There's no stupid tray utility to launch a bloated crap for scanning, printing, copying, faxing, calling tech support and buying ink. The driver is small and is just a driver. Toner lasts a good long while. It usually just prints when I tell it to print.

The printer that I have isn't very cheap. It's also a fax and a scanner and it was released in 2005/2006, but that still doesn't explain why sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

I need to use Windows 7 to learn some Xamarin but I fucked up the installation of my OSs time ago and left 40GB for Win7 system partition, 20GB are taken by the piece of bloated shit OS and the piece of shit IDE asks me for another 25 GB, needless to say it won't install in external storage; not even the static resources( Bravo Microsoft 2016), what can I remove from the OS to make up some space? I've already removed uselss software but I guess I need to take some of Win7 OS out.

I'd be really thankful if somebody could tell me what to delete.

I bet it works if you had a gnu/linux os. Nowadays gnu/linux has ridiculously good driver support. Except for wifi.

>It's also a fax and a scanner
As I said, all-in-ones suck the big one too. I've yet to see one that doesn't blow.

Even the one I helped set up for an office that they paid thousands for and used with XP for a couple years before upgrading to a Win7 machine. It was an HP, but it's in their office lines so it shouldn't be too bad. However, the latest driver they made is for Vista. Their official word on making it work on 7 was to install the Vista driver in compatibility mode for Vista and it *might* work. Of course it didn't. Setup slowly installed the hundreds of MB bundle, got to the end, then went to "rolling back changes". After a good long while of that it announced that installation had failed with no explanation of what was wrong. I eventually managed to extract their bundle and separately install the very most minimal print and scan drivers from it (maybe 8 MB worth of stuff out of a 300 MB bundle). I set them up with 3rd party freeware scan and copy utilities. The result was way more usable than their previous setup using the shitty bloated utilities that came in the bundle. It worked until Windows randomly broke something in the setup.

So yeah, don't get an all-in-one printer. And don't get an HP anything -- if it's a cheap consumer one it will be crap; if it's a super expensive office one you will find yourself with no working driver in a couple OS generations when they abandon it and tell you to buy a new one.

I have $100 in my Digitalocean account from some student coupon 2 years ago or something.

Now I got a mail from the DO niggers that my credit is about to expire in a month.

So I might as well blow it on the most expensive server they have for one month.

Any ideas what to do with it?

Yes it is, provided you get it directly from the MDL thread, which iirc requires registration on the forum. Getting it anywhere else, especially some shady looking shit like download-microsoft-toolkit.com, is like Russian roulette with 5 bullets.

What's the benefits of rooting my Nexus 5x?
And are there any drawbacks?

My main concern is battery consumption, overheating, etc.
I use my phone for social media, spotify, productivity apps ie Google keep, and things alike. No games.

I'm real dumb currently about how installing things on Ubuntu actually works. How do I use the ffmpeg that comes with mpv-build via command line? Need to re-encode some videos for a rapper's Vevo and don't want to install a separate instance of ffmpeg. Thanks!
