Why would anyone replace the ROM? I was a MIUI sceptic for a while and I got my redmi 3 the other day. I was positively impressed by how polished the ROM was.
It's got a theme engine, lots of extra safety features that google implemented in MM. The stock 'apps' are very good and light (and you can find a use for most of them, unlike google's stock apps). It comes with a decent file explorer. You can disable all the online crap. Every feature comes with very thoughtful suboptions, like the power profiles, under battery.
The only thing I'd change is the animation of the pulldown bar.

Interesting that's exactly the same as mine, except Golden instead of Black for body color. The memory manufacturer and other hardware info is in Factory Mode, after rebooting phone you hold Power+VolUp, and the options are all on-screen buttons.
The menu is different on the Redmi 3 but you can still navigate it and the blue button on the bottom is Shut down.

From what I remember MiFlash installs ADB for you, so you just skip right to here.
Flashing fastboot roms doesn't require unlocking a bootloader, you just reboot the phone into recovery, and put it in "Download"

That's the Note 3 Pro, it's cheaper on AliExpress. I have a Redmi 3 but I haven't flashed any other rom to it but I've tried different launchers and they work well without sacrificing the built-in power saving resources and battery profiles.
For the Redmi 3; the rear camera is a Samsung Isocell 13MP with 5pc lens, afaik this is the only phone with it at the moment. The front camera is Omnivision OV5670 PureCel, 1.12µm-pixel also. Both are really good for this price.
The Samsung 16MP S5K3P3 Isocell 1.0µm-pixel sensor in the Note 3 Pro was met with some criticism because Samsung has reduced the overall size, and the reduced pixel size means less light is captured. But there aren't any in-depth comparisons of the camera online. The samples that exist look pretty nice especially natural/bright environments.
