I'm gonna buy this pile of horse shit and pay 3k for a 980 desktop GPU in a laptop
Will I get 60 fps though?
>>53813352
I bought this to play League of Legends and I get between 56 and 59, but it's fince since you cant feel the difference between 59 and 60
>>53813352
For 3k if you don't get 60 fps, I would bomb msi headquarters tbq.h

Why is VHDL such a shit? I'm learning it for my DLD class and there's jack shit for reference materials online. The prof barely understands it; no one has any idea what's going on. Why is this even a thing?
What's the alternative?
>>53813273
None as far as I can tell.
>>53813207
VHDL is superior to Verilog in every aspect
Hey /g/, what printer should I buy?
I'm going to be using it to print documents, mainly for uni, and a few pictures here and there. What is my best option if I don't want to spend too much?
P.S. It wouldn't hurt to have a scanner built in!
>>53812975
I like my HP Officejet Pro 8610

Whatever it is, MAKE SURE that it is a laser printer. No inkjects. As soon as I got a laser printer, most of the headaches I got from dealing with my previous printers went away.
>>53813186
this
laser printers may have high initial costs but at the long-term, they worth the price
>thousands of pages per cartridge
>cartridges can be refilled
>page counter is only for information purposes and it doesn't lock the printer when it reports there's "no toner".
HP laserjets are the best if you need linux support

HOW does one make a fucking WINDOW resize SMOOTHLY on this PIECE OF SHIT?
If Windows 7 has FAR more complex window management and composition with the Aero system and manage to keep everything smooth, WHY cant GNOME or KDE arcieve the same?
And YES i AM using proprietary drivers from Nvidia
Lenovo T61 w/ Core2Duo T8300 and NVS 140m
Edit driver config

Export environment variable called:
__GL_YIELD="USLEEP"
This should fix the problem until reboot
Should i be exited /g/?
Currently on Windows 7, switched from all kinds of distros with Xfce, spend almost 6 years on Linux and started using Windows 7 after getting fucking sick of Xfce in January for Java and Android development.
What should i use now /g/?
Will Linux Mint get out of the stone age and start using Linux 4 at least? Will elementaryOS get their shit together and make a usable development base and not a Facebook machine?
What does /g/ recommend for the future and Linux and FOSS?

GNOME is too slow on my T61 mate, its fucking horrible to be unable to use such an awesome desktop environment because my laptop is shit.
Fuck my life.
What i wondered always was, HOW DOES Windows get away with such good performance with this level of visual effects and composition.
I NEVER EVER saw a windows resize smoothly on GNOME, like EVER, and Windows has no problems.

Probably drivers.

Somebody for the love of god help me before I start this shit.
So I want to use a sites information in an android app but the site doesn't have any proper api. I have made a library of web scrapers to get all of the information from the site. Should I just use the library in my app or should I host a database of the all the already scraped info and then use simple calls to the database?
>>53927028
That depends -- how long will you get away with scraping their site before they fuck up your application by changing things?
>>53927028
>Are you going to reuse the scraped data
Use the database.
>Are you going to use data once then obtain new data
Don't use the database.
You should probably use the DB though so you aren't hammering some website a ton.

Anyone buy FPGA boards from China? How are they. I recently got access to an original(!!!) Basys from Digilent. Its alright but, I wish it had more general I/O ports. I even had to write my own UCF for the board because there isn't one available on the net. Also Spartan 3E-100 is pretty dated. Anyone have experience?

Welcome to /fg/lt/, or as I've recently taken to calling it, /fg+lt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".

The GPL will remain. And Eben Moglen will take over. Or someone else. Stallman is merely a spiritus rector of the FSF, the day to day business is done by others
