Hey /g/. Over the last few centuries, I've seen a lot of people around that completely dislike 10, have gone back to 7 or are trying their darndest to avoid upgrading. Of course the main arguments are the lack of privacy on Windows 10, the UI being inconsistent, stability issues (with some crashes here and there) and updates being forced.
But then there's the performance side of things, on which it's not too clear. Some people say Windows 10 is faster, snappier, whatever the word. Some say that Windows 7 is the faster one. What's going on with this?...

I mean, I'll be honest here. I haven't used 7 in a long time and I seem to have alzheimer at times, so I can't really remember it being better or worse in terms of performance. Yet when I ask around some people really complain about 10 being slower.
An os is made for managing your hardware, arranging and accessing files and calling/managing/running software. The rest they "innovate" is utter bullshit and is created to keep their economy running.
Stick to the os that does just that and nothing else.

APUs are going to make an impact also. I was reading some where DX12 will take an AMD A10 with 512 stream processors and add it to the GPU amount. ex. APU512 + GPU2048= 2560 Stream Processors

Hey /g/ how much math is actually involved in a programming career, I'm interested because I've heard from some that there's a lot of math involved and from others that it's just simple stuff. I've been looking at web development and software engineering, so far I'm leaning towards the software engineering but I don't know anymore.

That depends what you're programming, but being good at math certainly won't hurt and is required for some specific tasks.

I own a Aspire 7750g with two Graphic cards.
Intel HD3000
Radeon HD 7670m
The Problem with this is that Overwatch only uses the Intel graphics instead of Amd. I had the same Problem with Hots and also couldn't fix it.
-I updated my Drivers
-Already tried switching with the catalyst control center
-also tried disabling the intel card, just uses no card instead
-Tried old drivers dual drivers
Is there anyway to fix this or do i have to wait for updates?

I've decided to finally learn to use a good text edior, so I'm starting a Vim vs Emacs flamewar.
I have to choose between those two (not really interested in any other, they seem the most powerful of the bunch) and I'm having a hard time seeing the exact differences.
This is what I want to accomplish:
- Be able to start it to edit regular text files with no exotic features bothering me
- Detect when I open a source file and offer various options typical to IDEs such as code completion (with popups showing relevant documentation), syntax highlight,...

But it is really that much more customizable than Vim? I sort of expect both to have pretty much unlimited rooms for expansion nowadays, but I never used any so I don't really know.

how do you enter "zen mode" when coding?
do you have a system for being productive? how often do you take a break? how do you eliminate distractions?
Work 30mins at a time as my attention span isn't great.
