Forgot to mention that I also want an emulation machine, so playing Wii games should be possible.
I'm using amd fx 8350 right now and had to learn the hard way that they're not meant for emulation.

Because not everyone is a gaymer. X99 multithreaded performance blows anything 1151 can throw at it.
The 6950x at 4GHz scores 22.78 in Cinebench R11.5
The 6700k at 4.8GHz scores ~11.5
Which means the scaling on the 6950x works damn near perfectly. 10 cores, 20 threads and it's more than doubling the performance of the 6700k a 4 core, 8 thread CPU clocked 800MHz faster.
So for rendering, encoding, and other CPU bound tasks that can use more threads, X99 makes a LOT more sense than Z170.
If you're gaming, obviously Z170 makes more sense because almost no game uses more than 4 cores and Skylake has higher IPC by about 5%.
It's an impressive build. I wish I was rich as shit, I'm over here struggling with spending $1300.

working on RAW 4k, 5k, or 8k files could do it. But even those you'd probably not be bottle necked by a decent SATA 3 SSD.

Because perfect scaling doesnt exist outside benchmarks and 1 or 2 very well optimized titles. Everything else will run only slightly better than a single card, or sometimes even worse than a single card.
