As someone who is a EVGA fanboy I can say this is a little disappointing. I was looking to pick up the FTW due to the second 8 pin for more power thus meaning more power. But I guess that isn't the case.

Buying a fancy custom card is pointless. Nvidia have locked the voltage down to 1.25V across the board. Cards with 50-phase power circuitry and 20lb heatsinks aren't going to do anything except collect an idiot tax from people who buy them.

Despite taking away most of the US tech jobs why is there no notable contribution from Pajeets other than the few who leave the shithole and work for the white masters here. Even the chinks and Russians tried to come up with other alternatives for Facebook and Google while Pajeets just consume US products
>>54964398
Oh by the way i forgot to add the question. Why can't pajeet come up with his own contributions to the tech

Need some advice /g/ I found a old laptop that we got given by a family friend that I just put away and forgot about. It's a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40-12S with Win XP on it currently. Seems fucked as Windows won't even move past the log in screen. I was thinking about just wiping Windows off it and giving Linux a try with it to see if it works.
I've never used Linux before & I can see there are a few different versions of Linux out there, do you guys have any recommendations as to which version of Linux might be the most stable for a laptop this old?
fuck and cum in the computer, op

But I don't want to anon.

You can try lubuntu.
It's lightweight and there shouldn't be any problems running it.
heh
Half of that code is literally a blog

my 1000 watt psu died today after only having it for 3 weeks . i was running 2 gpus on it. when it died the 2 gpus were super hot. what do you think killed the psu. could it be the outlet in my house was not giving it enough power ?
It was just faulty, get it replaced.
>>54964468
Thank god for your in depth and comprehensive input Anon. What would he have done without you.
No, you idiot. GPUs run super hot, especially if you have two of them. It's normal for them to reach 80c under load.
Your PSU was either a no brand chinashit which it probably was considering how quickly it failed, but if you are running something that's 80 plus gold or better I'd check the cables unless you are absolutely positive the PSU is bust.
As for the new PSU, buy at least Corsair CX if you can't afford better.

So the middle button on my G500 finally died, and this is my 2nd RMA and is finally out of warranty. So I guess it's time for a new mouse.
What's something that's simple, good amount of additional buttons and can give the same solid heavy feel this mouse could?
IMO 1.1a
Everything past one thumb button is a meme. You have 101+ keys to your left that you're ignoring. The mouse is for pointing, buttons should be on the keyboard.
>muh kdr
>>54964223
I actually prefer the side buttons for regular work functions, page up, page down and such.
>>54964260
Have you tried using the keyboard's page up, page down and such, that have been there for about 45 years

i have that laptop , its shit but works with linux really well (everything works ootb on libre/no drivers distros if you are using legacy boot in uefi). Wifi card is shit tho. Also why you need 3 gimped video cards on one laptop?
>>54964017
How the fuck did it take so long for eGPU's to become a thing? I used a PCI bridge on my laptop for an external video card almost 8 years ago, then nobody was talking about it.
>>54964134
Any drawbacks to doing it? Latency, smaller performance than if you had used it in a normal desktop PC? (supposing CPU is not a bottleneck)
Why is it impossible to create exact 1:1 copy of PS4 or XBONE game bluray discs? (I assume it is impossible otherwise this kind of piracy would exist). I get that it is not possible on consumer burners, but why doesn't someone in China or somewhere create burner that would be able to replicate 100% identical disc?
>>54963978
Because a console is not a computer and never will be and hundreds of millions go into making sure what you describe is never a reality.
>>54964168
the question is not if but how
what makes a original bluray different from a copied one
PS4 has HW DRM.
Sell your piss 4 and build an A8 APU desktop and get a graphics card for it later instead. You'll be able to use all the pirated pc games to your heart's content.
You'll also be able to use desktop to also do non-vydia stuff as well.
My graphics card died. WTF do I do?

If he could automate his entire job in 8 months and nobody noticed for 6 YEARS then that company didn't create anything new or the devs were handling all of the testing, or he had an insanely tiny amount of responsibility.
>>54964241
I half automated my job in 2 months. A lot of data input jobs can be automated quickly.
AutoHotKey is the shit.
