As someone who is a EVGA fanboy I can say this is a little disappointing. I was looking to pick up the FTW due to the second 8 pin for more power thus meaning more power. But I guess that isn't the case.

Buying a fancy custom card is pointless. Nvidia have locked the voltage down to 1.25V across the board. Cards with 50-phase power circuitry and 20lb heatsinks aren't going to do anything except collect an idiot tax from people who buy them.

Modding the BIOS does nothing. Neither does physically bypassing the voltage regulator. This has been confirmed by reknowned """""professional overclocker""""" 8 Pack. The limit is imposed either at a driver or chip level. Nvidia are the only ones who can lift those restricitons.

So? do the hardware mod, kingpin already posted the full guide for the 1080.

It's not like youre going to need higher voltage on air, you need LN to hit 2.5GHz already confirmed by two professional LN GPU overclockers and Galax which was one of the guys that got the GTX980ti to 2.2GHz on LN.

Are you literally brain damaged? I just said that hardware mods don't allow you to raise the voltage limit. The chip outright refuses to run at anythign above 1.25V.

>It's not like youre going to need higher voltage on air

You are if you're going to hit Nvidia's bullshit figure from the presentation.

Wrong, Galax hit 2.2ghz on air and 2.5~GHz using liquid nitrogen LIVE at Computex for everyone to see.

The new EVGA line would aesthetically look just as good as the previous generation if it weren't for that stupid as fuck name plate on the side.
