Trying to decide between an aftermarket 1070 (which would cost about 520 euro) or a 2nd hand used 980ti (which is about 400 euro).
Pro's of the 1070: new card, less power consumption, cooler, longer driver support, 8 GB vs 6GB Vram
Pro's of the 980ti
Oc'd it's slightly faster (now, which might change with drivers in the future).
Cheaper
Also I can't seem to find any decent benchmark of an aftermarket 1070 vs an aftermarket 980ti
>>55208858
You need a good case to put that in anon.
>>55208858
I don't really see the 10XX series gaining much performance with driver updates. It's basically just optimized maxwell. I'd go with the 980 ti of energy is cheap in your area
>>55208895
Newer cards always receive performance upgrades in the months after they have been released.
This was also true for AMD cards even though they have been releasing rebrands the last 4 years
>gaming motherboard
what does this mean?
>>55208618
ASUS mobos are good. Gaming is just in the name to attract retarded buyers.
Just make sure you get the highest chipset for your CPU and that's it.
Also, stay away from MSI.
>>55209412
ok ty
>>55208618
Gaming anything is just a marketing term.
I want somethink like pic but real. Cheap alternative for 5.1 amp to plug computer speakers. 5.1 channel from digital optical (toslink) to RCA/jacks . DOES IT EXIST?

Well, /g/. It looks like tablets are going to replace PC's. It's inevitable.

>these are the people I have to share the internet with
I'm not even a PC gamer but it's absolutely disgusting how retarded some people truly are familia. I bet this was taking from some fucktard gaming forum or some shit. You'd have to be a brain dead idiot to take anything these morons say with any seriousness.
With that being said tablets are very convenient but if laptops haven't replace pcs, tablets/phones definitely won't replace them.
>>55208379
Laptops basically have replaced desktops for most of the population. In my experience even offices have transitioned away from towers to laptops/docks. The desktop is basically only used by gamers and people who haven't bought a new computer in a decade now.
Tablets will never fully replace PCs though, because it's basically impossible to do real work on a touch screen.
Can someone explain the FOSS philosophy to me? Why shouldn't I be able to produce software that I do not want changed, forked, modded, or otherwise investigated? If I created it, shouldn't I be able to say what you can and can't do with it?
I know this thread has the potential to start a turmoil but please be civil about it. I'm genuinely interested in your input.

Open-source part is understandable,it leads to faster technological progress and freedom.I can provide arguments if its not clear.

Sure go for it. I won't be interested in your PoS program though.

https://www.eff.org/press/releases/eff-urges-citizens-websites-fight-rule-changes-expanding-government-powers-break
The U.S. Department of Justice is pushing through a rule change that would dramatically increase law enforcement’s authority to hack into computers—even if those computers are located outside the United States. The proposed updates to Rule 41 of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure—and the increase in government hacking that will come along with it—would be catastrophic for our security. The worst part is that lawmakers don't even have to...

I don't see what's wrong with this?
If your computer is part of a botnet you obviously don't care about privacy in the first place and also don't have the responsibility of owning a computer device either.
And what use is obscuring your IP anyway? 99% of cases it's to commit a crime or shitposting on Taiwanese Shrimp fishing forums.
I honestly see this going through perfectly fine. The Internet is not the Wild West, there needs to be rules and order. Just because the governed wants to make committing crimes harder to do behind anonymity isn't...

Rate my gaming build please, /g/.
For the GPU I'm planning to get an AMD RX 480 or a 1070 GTX, depending on how the reviews turn out.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as macOS, is in fact, OS X/macOS, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, OS X plus macOS. macOS is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another proprietary component of a fully functioning OS X system made useful by the OS X corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the OS X system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of OS X which is widely used today...

Mac's are fucking lame. God damn hipsters.

Anyone else disenchanted with high performance gaming?
I've been running a gtx 960 on my 1440 monitor for a while. Just got the 1070 and started running some of my games at max graphics.
"Huh", I thought. "So this is it".
I guess I'm so used to medium graphics I just don't mind anymore.
>>55207845
You just realize graphics isn't everything on a game anon.
>>55207845
the difference is smaller now than it used to be a couple of years ago
ever 10 times more polygons and textures with twice the resolution won't make a big difference, the only thing that can be improved is antialiasing/shadows but even that difference's not as impressive as it used to be
we need more and more resources to make less and less noticeable improvements
in a couple of years we won't be able to tell the difference between video game graphics and movies
Why is OSX so pleasent to look at when compared to Linux and Windows?

Right.
Can I run two monitors off one computer, but one running from the graphics card, whilst the other monitor runs off the motherboard?
>>55207643
Short answer:
No.
Slightly less short answer:
You are going to get horrible headaches when you could just plug another cable into the GPU.
>>55207706
You totally can with little to no issue.
I have a 144hz monitor. My graphics card is a 290, I have 2 other monitors running at 60hz.
If I plug them all into the 290 I can't effectively use the 144hz monitor.
If I plug the other 2 into the mainboard with the iGPU, it works fine. Sure, I had to reconfigure my desktop to look pretty and set my AMD-run display as main, but after that, not many problems.
>>55207746
So I can?
Do I need to change any BIOS settings for it to work or can I just plug it in and go?
Let's discuss the wonderful technology that are chairs.
