Trying to decide between an aftermarket 1070 (which would cost about 520 euro) or a 2nd hand used 980ti (which is about 400 euro).
Pro's of the 1070: new card, less power consumption, cooler, longer driver support, 8 GB vs 6GB Vram

Oc'd it's slightly faster (now, which might change with drivers in the future).

This was also true for AMD cards even though they have been releasing rebrands the last 4 years
1070 OC and 980ti OC are roughly same.
Neither of them will support the async compute, so DX12 game performance improvements are meme for you with either.

I really don't understand the reasoning of people recommending 480's to people wanting to buy 1070's. The 480 is (apparently) much weaker.
Some suggest "oh just get 2 480's", yet they miss that most games either don't support crossfire/SLI or perform terribly. In conclusion, you could be using 1 card for 90% of the games you play, while the other card is just sitting there doing nothing.
Then they suggest to overclock the 480 because it will reach 1070's performance. Do they forget you can also overclock the 1070 and it will (possibly ) blow the 480?
