Hello /g/, I'll going to start using Linux, but I do not know what, can you help me?
>>51314026
What are you using linux for? What do you want out of it?
>>51314026
> not writing your own OS
fucking noob
Pick from centOS, Fedora, Debian, openSUSE, slackware and gentoo. Read about each of them and see what suits your needs best.
what's a good paid vpn? I was thinking about buying cyber ghosts vpn because I've used the free version and like it and it's fast. I have no idea how much they will protect my information though.
My top concerns are privacy, speed, and price. In that order.

Why are these threads always misogynistic as fuck?
>>51313677
Why do you care
>>51313689
I care because women are pushed away from participating in threads like these, because of the sexist imagery.
Ignoring tinfoil hats, does /g/ like ChromeOS? I tried a chromebook today and there were no flaws.
It's a chrome browser running on gentoo.
It's hardly an OS.
>>51313573
ChromeOS fans my friends do you eat shit out of your own hands you piss-showering advocates?
>>51313585
>hardly an OS
that doesn't discount it

Where were you when Apple btfo?
Seriously, Apple sucks at security. OS X is basically shit, even compared to Windows, icloud had the nudes, and now ios gets to join the club.
Can't believe you faggots actually pay $900 for this shit.
>>51313557
Not this thread again. In this cambodian imageboard we all hate apple and Microsoft products. Just talk about freenux please, the rest doesn't interest us.

Z8700 Atom phones when?
The chip only costs 35 buckaroos and has a sdp of only 2 watts.
The zenfone 2 was okay but we need a powerful cherry trail phone now.
>inb4 atom housefire
It's built on 14nm lithography not ancient 22nm lithography.
We'll probably see it on the zenfone 3.
The Acer Predator.
>x86
Go away with that legacy shit
I was always taught to learn how to program, not how to program using x language . Are any books or text which teach good, clean and efficient code writing which may or may not use a language as a demonstrative (so may use pseudo code )?

List me pros and cons of nvidia/AMD so I can make an educated decision on my purchase
And don't lie you shills
>>51313212
Generally speaking, nvidia is more power efficient relative to performance and has features that lazy developers cater for more.
AMD on the other hand benefits from cheaper purchase cost and, generally speaking, higher vRAM for your bucks.
Really depends on what sort of application and needs you have.
Gameworks werks better on nividia
Generally speaking you should evaluate the individual products rather than being loyal to a brand.
There's no benefit to being brand loyal as the devices they both sell have to fall under very strict standards.
Why is Vim shilled so much?
I use notepad++ as my text editor, but after some time in this board i downloaded Vim, and it is shitty on every level.

Is chakra any good? Anyone here use it? What makes chakra different than Arch or other forks of Arch?
sudo pacman -S plasma
I had never even heard of chakra until a few days ago, now I've seen it mentioned multiple times in a couple days
Why the sudden upsurge in popularity?

Just been browsing around looking for a starting distro that might suit my needs, saw some weeb on desktop thread using it so I was wondering what it was exactly

Version 6 is now out. See more information, or download Schillsaver, from the following page.
http://valkryst.com/schillsaver/index.html
I recommend reading through most of the instructions either on the webpage or in the readme
file as you're setting up the program for the first time.

Version 7 is out. There are some useful improvements to the interface and how the Jobs are run although testing still needs to be done to ensure that the Jobs are being sorted as intended.
Is it possible to change encode settings yet? That's the killer feature I'm waiting for.
>>51315379
It's been possible for over a week. Just pop open the settings menu and read along with the readme.

Get at least an i5, replace the ASRock mobo with a Gigabyte.
Cockpit is a new server administration tool that ships with Fedora 23.
http://cockpit-project.org/
Thoughts on it? How does it compare to other tools like webmin and YaST?
>only supports systems running systemd
Sounds pretty good.

Stopped reading there. Why are all open source projects called such stupid fucking names.
>>51312620
I've been using it for a while and its pretty good - usually I'm not a fan of gui admin tools but this is pretty good, especially it's docker management.
