Why is computer science a good thing to study? If you wanted a job couldn't you just have started working in a computer shop?

This video is ridiculous and he's wrong on pretty much everything he says. Node.js is good for writing acceptable network services quickly. You may hate Javascript the language but npm has a lot of content on there to quickly create something.
You can do everything in Node with other languages it's just personal preference. There shouldn't be any reason to hate Node.js the technology (hating the SJW politics surrounding it is a different story) as it is a valid solution that has been proven to work.
It all comes down to personal preference really.
>>51483612
I don't get it. What, is the significance of the bizarre colors and the main character appearing in a bed, then becoming an old man and finally a fetus?
>>51483612
>js is slow
lmao it's the fastest dynamic programming language.
>cpu blocking is still blocking
No fucking shit, no one uses node for numerical calculations.
My only real gripe about node.js is that C++ packages don't have compiled versions.
It'd be so much fucking easier than having to run node-gyp every time I download a new package.
What's the best streaming device, and why is it this?

Hey /g/
My mom flew to ny for a business trip not to long ago
When she was flying back tsa asked to see her laptop and they proceeded to turn it on and plugged something into it. (According to what my mom said)
When she gets back home and turns on laptop it runs startup repair. Ever since her trip she said her laptop has been acting up
Is there any way to check if something was installed?
Why the fuck would the god damned tsa need to turn on her fucking laptop. Those fuckers are shit bags. Your mother NEEDS to talk to who ever is in charge or that airport to set those fuckers straight. This is absolutely ridiculous.
Is your family Muslim?
>>51483495
Of course.
Ever since I downloaded the 1511 update last week, my wifi turns off for 60 seconds, comes back on for 60 seconds, and repeats.
I rolled back to 8.1, and it worked fine. Updated to Windows 10 + 1511, and the problem started again.
Drivers are up to date, and no viruses detected.
Anyone else had this issue?
Windows 10 is the virus.
>>51483388
Yes. Had the issue also.
I formated my hard drive and installed linux and haven't looked back.
install gnu+linux
So what exactly is wrong with windows? The way I always understood it was that the OS is just a workbench for your tools (aka software) that is fine as long as it supports basic multitasking. So wouldn't the greatest difference between systems be the tools that they support? I would much rather have a simple workbench on which I can use my normal toolkit, instead of a pretty looking one that I need to always use awkward workarounds on. Besides, what essential productivity features does windows lack that someone would use regularly in their workflow? Windows also has the...

@51483387
Great post, familia
Because its an OS that went from being as you describe, a workbench with tools, to a fucking ultramodern sleek white plastic and glass table with massively placed out but cramped cubbies for tools, and theres no option to remove some of the more "dangerous" tools, and working directly on the glass surface of this workbench is prohibited because you might scratch it
i use windows vista for work, offline only, and thats it
>>51483423
>ultramodern sleek white plastic
Care to elaborate? I'm personally loving all the productivity features on 10 such as the multiple desktops and fullscreen start menu.
What are the dangerous tools? What is prohibited?
Anti-virus software either dies young or lives long enough to become the villain.
What anti-virus do you recommend? Because AVG just spams pop-ups about updates and shit like this now even though I have all those things disabled.
I'm using gnu/Linux
Malwarebytes by far
AVG is pretty good, why are you fucking crying OP?
You can just leave it like that, it doesn't matter.

If the 290x has so much computer power why is it behind the 980 in performance?
Can someone explain to me other aspects of a gpu that affect performance?
Is the difference in compute power why people say AMD cards age better?
>>51482969
>>51482969
Depends on what you mean by performance.
If you mean gaming, then I'd say gaming isn't all about hardware or even the drivers. Its about controlling the market and making the most use of it. Nvidia has lots of ties with game developers and thus makes them use whats best fit for nvidia hardware. This means nvidia can cut where AMD excels and route it to where nvidia is better at. AMD has some ties to game devs too, but they don't usually get traction. Vendor neutral softwares show accurate depiction...

So is compute power relevant to gaming performance then?
Hey /g/, I'm remodeling my game room, and I need a big ass tv. Should I get a budget 4K tv, or a good LED tv? I'm not good with technicals, so I'm not sure what specifics I should look for in a TV for gaming or watching sports.
Pic related, I can get this on discount where I work, all said and done I could spent around $300 for it.
On a side not, I can't find any information on this tv, other than this single one star rating with no review.

Is there a way to gain a large number of friend requests on Facebook? Facebook seems to have implemented many countermeasures to stop this from occurring, but I am convinced there must be some method remaining. The friend requests can be from anyone.
