Is GTX 1060 going to be the best bet to build a budget VR-ready computer in a month or so?
bemp
Wait for the benchmarks to decide if you want to get one over a RX 480. Be aware though that if it is anything like the demand for the GTX 1080 and 1070 are now, a month from now if you can find one in stock it is probably going to be in the $300-350 range. Regardless it is the Founder's Edition or using an aftermarket cooler.

No.
What is the best way to generate 8400 watts of electricity? Short of buying a fuel burning generator that is.
I'm trying to go off grid. I've worked out my average daily consumption to about 25-26 KWH per day. Yes that is heavy, but it's also counting the fact that I don't live alone, and there are 3 water boilers on the property, one of which runs about 3-4 hours a day on average, and one loafer at home all day. I also have a blacksmith forge, and occasionally use the arc welder for touch ups and structural welds. And electricity prices are hiking...

>no solar energy

In that case you should just get some cheap portable nuclear fusion reactor on eBay
>>55553344
>How do i generate electricity out of nothing with no money, fuel or supplies?!
I dunno, try pulling it out of your ass.
Let's get one of these going.
This is a clock I'm planning on building soon. at each point in the grid there will be an led across anode and cathode, so that one LED will light up at a time to indicate seconds. The wire on the left then goes off to a repeat unit of this to show minutes, which then goes on to show hours etc. Just need some advice on whether this thing will function or not. I'll be using a 5v power supply I have lying around.

All the EEs left /g/. This board is for GPUs and smartphones.

What are some good tips for being a computer tech?

Ignore all apple products. Do not even bother trying to service.
>>55553115
Fail at everything else first

>Do not even bother trying to service.
ding ding, you win the dummy award.
apple users will spend lots of cash on repairs. You would be stupid to avoid them.
>made with 100% recycleable paper
So what about this fucking plastic sticker than fuckers?
How can you trust a company which already lies about it's packaging material?
What kind of lies are they telling about their actual products?
Fuck off XFX/MSI shill
>>55552995
I think they're just saying that the outer/inner cardboard is recycleable, not that the plastic components (seals, antistatic bag, etc.) are also made from recycleable paper.
>>55552995
Could be plant based plastic. Bioplastic.
>You should never use root because you can run commands that will destroy your computer
>Instead you should type SU password command that way you can still run commands that will destroy your computer?
Can someone explain why it's bad to log in as root?
Cause I'm not really seeing the logic.
Only run things as an elevated user as needed.
You aren't accidentally going to type in "sudo." Not to mention the GUI.
I run plasma as root

T-thanks Apple...
Nobody has ever said that, retard.
>>55552986
they did. IOS users throw shit at android because of updates, implying their products gets updates. And this delay of updates causing from phone companies, not google. If someone bought a nexus or installed cyanogenmod on their phone they wouldn't throw shit at android

Does anyone have any idea where I could buy a mini itx am3 mono? I know they made a few of them but I can't find d any anywhere!! Any techfags probably have a working I could buy off of? Pic related
>>55552885
Not many were made
This is mostly due to mITX not really being popular till AFTER the majority of AM3 tech was finished up development, and even then, AM3 chipsets requiring so much more to physically be on the board, versus something like an Intel Chipset.
Try to get a hold of an ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe off eBay or similar.
BECAUSE AMD GOT BTFO

Don't bother. Build a Haswell/Skylake mini-ITX system from scratch.
Hey guys, I am in dire straits in terms of money and I am planning to trade out my iphone 6s 64 gb for something cheaper and get money for it.
At the moment I was considering samsung A3. What would you suggest?
Guys?

Would suggest not being such a useless little poor faggot. Go blow some guys at truckstops and keep your phone.

Can I buy a vive AND build a VR ready computer with this?
I'm willing to go down and dirty to lowball faggots on craigslist so long as I put together a decent rig.
Is it possible?
>>55552718
Perhaps. I upgraded everything but my case/power supply, and I've dropped ~1200 so far, including the Rift.
>>55552718
No?
Vive takes such a big chunk out of your cash. You're going to have to compromise so much with the PC components you'll likely get frame drops and then it'll be vomit time.
That'll only get worse as time goes on.
