Couldn't find old thread after applying my /g/ safe filters so I decided to make a thread for Terry, so I wouldn't fall behind, using a new headline. As it is, I'm filter greentext in thread titles and would assume any sane man would do the same. Especially with all the shill in /g/.

ITT we post our ideas on how we could've made it to the news by doing literally nothing new.

>building a server into a shoe box.
News:
10 year old kid makes a server into a shoe box, the server has a whappingly powerful 1.8gigaherz intel processor and it has 2 gigabytes of ram.
Kid's parents are so proud of his invention and they hope that in the future he will make more inventions like this.

Hey /g/uys, i'm looking for a new distro/os to put on my ux501, i've had antergos for like 1/2 a year now (dualbooting with windows for school stuff) and it was fine, untill arch started to fuck itself up, it still werks there's just some stuff that don't work. I'm really loving the package manager and rolling release, updating everything at the same time is fantastic, but i find arch really unreliable so now i'm looking for a new distro.
Is there anything that's rolling release that doesen't fuck itself up? What would you recommend?Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Hi /g/, when you buy a music album physically, music is in WAV. But is it at 16-bit or 24-bit WAV?
16 bit. 44100Hz
16
>>54700302
As far as I know, cds can only have a bit depth of 16
good morning /g/ Its time for a decision.
Computer Science, Computer Networking or Information technology.
I'm going to university in the next few months and I have to choose between: Computer Science, Information technology and Computer Networking.
Prior to this I have done computer science but find the Maths of it all quite difficult, I have a good understanding of networking & associated systems as well as having worked in IT for the 8 years previous.
Which should I choose? I'm not sure of the Pro's / Cons of each and the sorts...

Information technology - joke of a degree.
Computer Science - skip if you can't into math.
Computer Networking - go for it especially since you have a good understanding and associated experience.
>>54700260
>I have a good understanding of C++, Python, Java, and PHP
No, you really don't.
>>54700260
IT - SysAdmin or biz track. 1 step above MISY.
Networks - Network Admin, sysAdmin, infrastructure positions
CS - Actual development
I don't really agree with these categories but I seem to be in the minority
is the "slash" (`/`) in GNU/Linux pronounced?
>>54700171
Depends if you have down syndrome or not
Yes, it's pronounced 'plus'.
The slash is an English pronunciation symbol meaning "don't say anything before this mark unless you're autistic"

Use 8.1 or 10, the old Windows update is a clusterfuck which updates like a 1gb database each time you search for updates and takes 2.5 - 3 hours even on my high end PC. My 4GB ram laptop crashes as updates need close to 5GB ram when database is loading.
M$ at its finest.

Reboot, install these two updates

What are your most hated tech companies?
For me Microsoft is number one. Not only have they failed absolutely everything in the past decade, they give their "certifications" to scam artists, put in place update policies that rape all your bandwidth and data, and will literally force their updates on you.
Second, we have Intel. A company that got its ass handed to them in the early 2000s and resorted to illegal business practices. Not only does Intel fail to innovate, but they practically ran the only company that could and forced them to sell off their...

Interesting doesn't always mean good.
