Ok faggots, im looking at a new build to buy and i need some opinions. Is this a solid build? Will it be bottlenecked to fuck? will it run 4k or atleast max settings 1080p?
Also, should i get a corsair strafe RGB keyboard? if i do then i'll probably getting cherry mx brown switches.
hey /g/uys, i didn't want to make a new thread. i'm looking to build my very first pc lol i mostly play league of legends and hearthstone, will this run these games at 900p in low to medium settings? thx for any advice =)
>>55073773
no it wont
>>55073746
I wouldn't get that meme cooler, but it's not like it's a bad choice.
Also, wait a bit for the 1070 to come out. Don't get a 980Ti.
Alright so my old shitty stone age pc broke and I decided to spend a total of $650 on a brand new PC that is very decent and has no trouble at running most of the new generation games on high, but I have no idea how to build a perfect pc.
Can you guys help and suggest a fine build that fits in the budget?
>>55073698
You're gonna need 650 for the graphics card
Wait until next month.
Best I could do OP

>Building a new computer this summer, currently looking at dual Xeons (X5460 or alike) and a GTX 970.
Anyone have any experience with building dual 771? I'm worried about noise level and the price to performance.
Also what is /g/ running or planning on building?
>dual xeons meme
currently running
Intel i5 661 (dual core at 3.3GHz)
AMD Radeon HD 6850 (just a 1GB card, nothing special)
8GB DDr3
128GB SSD
750GB HDD
I am running a 5820k on X99 2011-3 because the only reason to build on an older platform such as 771, 1366, or 2011 is if you already own the motherboard you need. Old motherboards in good condition are very expensive unless you get lucky and find one being thrown out.
What are /g/ memes you've fallen for?
I fell for the language whose strings are linked lists of 32-bit characters
what is Data.Text
I fell for the 16GiB ram meme

Get real, faggot. Unless your hobby involves doing something that's productive, you can't say shit about what someone does with their own free time.
Just use MPV OP. It jest twerks right out of the box and is pretty customizable (natively). It's also lightweight as fuck. MPC is pretty customizable too, but I don't like to mess around with plugins and extra codecs and stuff.

i just did.
I need your help /g/. I know that some time ago there was an option on facebook to remove te possibility of being searched through the insite search. Now this possibility seems to have been removed from facebook. any way not to show up in the results when someone searches my name?

That photo is older than the internet. That girl is probably 35 years old by now.
And I have no idea what it is.
So does /g/ have any ideas? The top says WD.

Can I set up a Finite-State Machine using Python?
I'm looking to input a string and have the program throw a boolean whereas True means the string is contained in the FSM.
>>55072898
>Can I set up a Finite-State Machine using Python?
You have to implement it, but yes.
>>55072898
FSMs are bad because they mutate state
The best program is one completely free of side-effects.
t. functional programmer
>>55072930
That's a strawman of how functional programmers advocate state and immutable logic.
Why is binary just 1s and 0s?
Why not introduce some new numbers so that you can represent more information more compactly? if 8 in binary is "1000," then why don't we just use fucking 8 instead of four digits to represent it? That's four times less bloated.
>>55072825
>Why is binary just 1s and 0s?
Because it is BI-nary
>Why not introduce some new numbers so that you can represent more information more compactly? if 8 in binary is "1000," then why don't we just use fucking 8 instead of four digits to represent it? That's four times less bloated.
You don't REPRESENT 8 as 1000, you represent it as 8 or "eight" or whatever.

Fundamentally less glitches. It's either High or Low, no mid level, no chance of misread
Am I a Plebian or a Patrician for thinking that this 20 dollar router is completely adequate and all that I really need? (in the US/using comcast, so not going anywhere near the 300mbps cap).
At my University the fastest download speed for was 1 mb a second. At my home its 2mb.
If you don't need to do any heavy lifting over your network or access it from a great distance then yeah, it's perfectly fine.
If you ever want a NAS or to stream UHD to your car then you're going to have a bad time.
>>55072789
Seeing as I'm not sure what those are yeah I guess I'm fine, as long as I can game without lag and it handles things like planetside2 or warframe fine so yeah!
hey, i have this. it works from 3 walls behind in my house at good speed.
Hello
I built a new computer recently. My system keeps rebooting randomly. I checked windows error log and saw "kernel power 41 (63)". According to Microsoft this is a general power failure message. I took my case apart and noticed what looked like brownish grease on my motherboard above the video card. I rebooted my computer suspecting a blown capacitor. It turned on for about a minute then shut down again. I attempted a reboot but the computer wont post.
Pressing the power button causes all the fans to spin and the lights to come on with the exception...

>Why Software Should Be Free

>Fewer people use the program.
>None of the users can adapt or fix the program.
>Other developers cannot learn from the program, or base new work on it.
So what?
You're confused. Stallman isn't advocating for software users to become IT experts or computer programming. Users do not need any form of IT aptitude to study and modify the free software they want.
Imagine you have a recipe for a cake that you love but you have an idea of an extra ingredient that you want to add to make it even better. However, the creator of the recipe has locked it down so you can only make the cake exactly as he intended.
Now let's imagine you somehow manage to add your extra ingredient. The cake takes even better and you want to share your new recipe with your friends and other people online so they can enjoy the cake too. Whoops, that's illegal, you've now been thrown in jail.
Now also imagine that you find another recipe...

even if you don't want to modify the program, other people do, and free software a.) allows them to do that, and b.) allows you to benefit from their work.
Why does it seem like the Linux community is totally unable to make software for design that even comes close to Windows/Mac alternatives? I understand lack of first party ports due to lack of marketshare by Linux however the Linux alternatives are just so bad. Gimp for example is fine for medium tier image manipulation but cant even make a non-ghetto circle and lacks 99% of the usability in a professional environment of Photoshop. Same with Inkscape and Adobe Illustrator. Will Linux ever be usable for graphic design? I hate being cucked by Microsoft and Apple.
