As tech-literate, devs, programmers, and enthusiasts, how do you feel about videogames and TV shows that try to reach out to this crowd? Notably upcoming Watchdogs 2, Mr. Robot, and more.

I've honestly never heard of Watchdogs.
Mr. Robot is fight club.

which distro isnt a meme?
why should i use linux over windows?
Only distros I have tried are Ubuntu and Mint. They worked fine for most things, but I saw no advantage
>Redhat
>Fedora/CentOS
>Not Rajeets
>>55332174
Is a Rajeet a Pajeet that poos in the loo?
>>55332158
What you tried and what worked fine for you is the best distro.
> no advantage
OS itself is a foundation. Advance of foundation results sometimes in catastrophic system failure. If your work flawlessly done on the current OS, then that OS is the best OS for you.
Why is he such a shill, now?

Did you even watch the video?
I'm a novice programmer and I don't really wanna spend another dinner at mcdicks. Do you think I could to a tech company and ask for an unpaid internship where they just give me stuff to study and I start contributing when I'm ready? If not I'll just study after work for a couple hours.
If you're not currently in school and your skills are minimal then more than likely not.
>>55331923
What does McDonald's have to do with this? And the answer is probably no. You need something to back up that internship other then you calling yourself a novice programmer.
>>55331923
There are already millions of 3rd world pajeets doing that, so no chance for you. Sorry
All the cited "negative" benchmarks have one thing in common: they use DirectX 11 or OpenGL 4.
Did Nvidia pay reviewers to omit DirectX 12 and Vulkan benchmarks because they knew Polaris would finally unquestionably destroy their crippled and gimped GPUs?
>>55331913
>DirectX 12 and Vulkan
No games support it yet.
>>55331913
480 will be severely outdated by the time dx12/vulkan is relevant. It's not even a flagship card. AMD fucked up bad.
>>55332150
>What is Hitman and Ashes of The Singularity?
Doubt many games will support it until Nvidia tells them it's okay. Which tbqh kinda kills the point of dx12.
I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is...

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as GNU/Linux is in fact GNU. Linux is not part of the operating system itself, but is the kernel that is not covered by the naming system of an operating system as defined by common sense.
Many users run operating systems such as Windows, OSX, and a variant of BSD yet do not use a cumbersome naming system that includes the kernel, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, GNU has been the exception to this for no reason...

>The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system.
I never liked this part. That's like saying your heart is useless by itself but in actuality it can be used for study or a heart transplant.
Does anyone know the best way to use FFMPEG to check if a video stream (HLS, etc.) is out of sync with audio?
Thanks in advance
>ffmpeg
Or you can stop being an autist and play it
>>55331892
There is audio.
And there is video.
Only a human can discern if the audio and video play at the right times.

I want to do it programmatically. There has to be a way.
/g/, I've decided to become a digital Nomad
I plan on moving around in South East asia, working on software and some online work. I have an international smartphone with a 10,000mah battery built in, and am looking at what other tech i need to live this way. everything must fit on a light motorcycle. I'm thinking a backpack for absolute essentials and one rucksack for clothes.
So let's talk laptops, i'm thinking a 17.3" 1080p with G-sync (for muh gaymen). I'm not going to be always moving, but will be relocating every 3 months or so so it's more a portable desktop replacement than a really portable laptop
Any advice? also, what other tech should i take with me?
>running around with a gaymen laptop in your backpack in Southeast Asia
You won't be a digital nomad for long. Or at least you won't remain digital
>>55331477
>what other tech should i take with me?
knife, gun, pic related printed on photo paper, mandarin-english dictionary, fishing hooks and line, led flashlight, lighter, picture of chairman mao on photo paper, 9v battery, copy of free as in freedom by richard m. stallman, thinkpad x200
I plan on doing this as well, moving every three months is a good thing to do especially if you plan on doing visa's, as the easy to get ones expire every three months. I'm going to Vietnam next summer with some to see how I like it, then I'll be going there to stay.

It's been going pretty well, both UE4 and Unity can target Linux as a platform and there are plans to port both editors to it.
In the end it's just a matter of time, it's easier to optimize software on Linux than on Windows, thus the gap on performance between both systems is closing down, eventually Linux will surpass it and that day you will see the Linux adoption skyrocket.
>>55331391
As it turns out, Linux doesn't want to be saved.
Why is affordable ram either edgy gaymur trash or ugly green oem sticks? What caused this to happen to the market?

Sorry, you're part of the problem. See this? It's an 8GB stick of DDR4 RAM rated at 2400 MHz. It clocks up to 3200 Mhz without problem and still produces basically no heat. It just fucking works. I got two of these for $45. Fuck all of your shit.

Game engines are technology.
Is there anything this setting does other than killing your framerate by half? I am confused as to what this does and why this setting is here. In terms of visual difference, I see none.
