Yes. They have better sound and more features. It's a must IMO.
Onboard sound is leagues better than it used to be, but there is still a night and day difference between them and a decent sound card.
Yes they have their uses but listening to weaboo music on your consumer headphones isn't one of them, your on board is more than enough for that.

Are my pc specs decent?
Considering upgrading to 32gb ram.
I'd say you need a minimum of 128gb of ram and I'd just replace your ssd with 512gb of ram just sell your graphics card and CPU you don't need it. Put more ram in the empty slots.

Hey /g/ what are there any guides or recommendations for speakers. I'm looking at getting a small setup for my house. Looking at 2.1 but can go 2.0 if bass is sufficient. I've seen some guides but all the products are only available in USA and i'm in Australia. budget is between $200-$400.

Will start working on a node express SPA to control a raspberry pi and omxplayer today. We're setting two of them up so they continuously loop a video on a beamer in a local bar. The page will be available on the local network to do things like restart, pause, play, etc. Important is the automatic start on boot (one grub entry away) and shutdown/reboot functionality. Important apart from security, of course.

I hate web development so much because I can't make sense of any of it. There's no big picture, way too many languages and technologies and none of it makes any sense.
I wish there was a book that explained the high level stuff. Learning individual languages and junk is easy.

So far, perfect 60fps with Vsync on. Not a single drop, inside or outside, in Goodneighbor.
Before the update, the area would have drops as low as 40fps at the same settings. I need to turn off Vsync and test
Massive improvements in the overworld. No significant drops, yet, even with multiple enemies. Occasionally drops to 58 or 59 fps, but I usually chalk that up to FRAPS misreading, or some sort of Vsync error, since that happens in even the least intensive games with Vsync on.
Have to go through a couple .ini edits to turn off Vsync. If thread is alive, I'll report back after an hour or so of testing.
Microstutter seems to have pretty much disappeared. Temps are quite a but better, curiously.

Summit Ridge and its server countpart Opteron line are AMD's battle horn. The official sounding that they are back in the fight, they are targeting enterprise, they are targeting high performance, and performance per watt.
I'm holding out for Raven Ridge in Q1 2017 to see how they diversify it from their binned Summit Ridge chips, and entry level GPUs. That'll give real insight into how Su sees the direction of the company in regards to the consumer market.
