I tried searching the code online with no results.
Kinda looks like a capacitor. Any ideas?
That is a paralexal string resistor. Be careful with it

I need to hide my ip, /g/. Is incognito mode good enough?

yes desu

Definitely not.
Why do you even need to hide it, anyways?
had the mionix castor for half a day and it didn't work out. so I'll go for the zowie now, replacing my mx518. why is there no proper successor to the mx518 or intelli mouse.
steel series mice and the zowie seem to be the closest in terms of shape and ergonomics.
what mice does /g/ recommend use? most of the charts floating around are outdated.
Yeah, I'm in pretty much the same boat. I reckon I'll pull the trigger on the Steelseries Rival.
>>51459086
G400s and Zowie mice have the best sensors.
>>51459449
G400s sensor is not the best.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™

"So a little update for you all, Lenovo still working very hard on the ThinkPad Retro project. A team of Taiwanese diehard ThinkPadders will visit Lenovo Yokohama next week, and they will be briefed on all things ThinkPad (and some details on Retro). Apparently, right now the bottleneck for Retro project is on sourcing the screen. for 13.3 inches 16:10 and 15.4 inches 16:10 IPS screens are all exclusively produced for Apple. But i am guessing CES we will see the prototype for the Retro ThinkPad."

Just got myself a 600x. Will I be able to install modern distros on it or will I have to use something older?

Always loved your build. What's the blue green rear fan? I like the look and color of it on its own, but I feel like it kinda detracts to from your overall look.

Aww, that's so nice. The rear fan is actually green, it's one of the case fans, Nanoxia deep silence. It's just there because I was too lazy to buy proper fans for the case, 7 expensive fans on the rads are enough, I just re-used what I had here for the rest.

It's 2015.
I built a gaming desktop in ~2006, left it behind in 2008 when I went off to college.
Went to go boot it up now, can't get any video to appear on the screen, not even a POST message. One of the disk drives was making funny noises (has cd and dvd) so I unplugged both and the hard drive as well, but the symptoms are the same.
All leds light up and the fans spin, and that's it. I don't remember if it's supposed to beep or not on POST, the SMT pads labeled "buzzer" are unpopulated and there's a jumper marked "speaker" near...

If you live near sea, the salt water might fuck things up during the humid season.
Forgot to mention that the shelf it was stored on is only ~12 feet away from my old computer desk, so I don't think it was banged around too much.
Also the CPU and southbridge heatsinks stay pretty cool to the touch after being on for ~20 seconds, but the northbridge heatsink gets suspiciously warm.
The motherboard does not have a video out so I am testing the video through DVI on the video card. I double-checked my monitor with a few different sources so I don't think the monitor's the problem.
RIP annons computer
Post pics so we can properly morn it's passing together.
Was it able to run crysis?
I dropped and shattered my Z3C screen. Probably would just use it anyway except it disabled the digitizer so I can't.
Does anyone have any experience replacing the screens on this? I've fixed a lot of phones but this one looks like bitch because the front and back are just glued to the frame. What's the best angle of approach here? Would buying an LCD with frame be advantageous?
Take it to someone to fix it for you. Might be pricey but looks like that would be a pain in the ass to fix
>>51458634
Well I worked in repair for over a year so the person I would take it to to get it fixed is...myself.

Just how much better is OS X compared to Linux?
What makes it better or worse?
>>51458492
the only think I can think of is 3rd party software like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop.
If they didn't have that, well loonix would win.

They want to drive down the value of programmers. But normies can't code for shit, and the only thing shitting up the industry are the Indian's with their easily obtainable (as toilet paper) diplomas.
