Is it at all possible to end up with a legit Windows 10 Pro install if I install a patched or pirated W8 or W7 Pro copy?
Or is Windows 10 Enterprise with the Toolkit a better option?

Here's tip #1: Don't ask for anything. Tell them to surprise you.
I want a gaming laptop but not sure if the price is right.
$2,149.99 CAD
Trying to replace my dead G53S
>ASUS ROG Laptop G752VT-DH72 I7-6700HQ 16GB 1TB+128GB GTX970M 3GB G-SYNC 15.6in Windows 10 Silver
Asus makes good laptops, at least when talking about this higher end stuff, but I'd throw in whatever extra is needed to get the 980M version.
I have the last flagship model with the 880M and it runs things pretty smoothly, but it's not going to run things that well a year from now and that model you posted is only 20% better than this.
980M is twice as fast, get that one.

Anyone ordered an OSVR?
Thoughts on the device?

Nausea.

Seems more interesting than the Cockulus Anal Rift, or Steam "I hope you have a big empty room" VR
The idea of open source promotes some kind of industry standard I'd imagine, and the user modifiable bits seem interesting.

The end of time is coming in 2038, where every single 32 bit time integer will overflow and throw us back to 1901!

Y2K all over again?
Will fucking nothing happen this time too?

Who cares? In the year 2030 the computers will be solving all problems.
>unix literally has planned obsolescence built in
is directx 12 the only reason to upgrade from windows 7 to 10? i dont give a fuck about xbox or microsoft store or touch screen crap, bloatware as far as im concerned.
but since w7 wont be getting dx12 and i heard there will be performance boost in some game??
>TL;DR is dx12 a meme?
For now, dx12 is meme
in 2-3 years, AAA titles dx12 no meme
>>51496828
Right now no games are using Dx12, and won't be for at least 2 years. Until then windows 10 has no benefit in games.
Well, it got some minor upgrades like a terminal emulator that can be resized without going into its NT 3.51 era context menu, Explorer not hanging as often while waiting for network drives, etc.
I/O performance might be slightly better in general, though it's clearly still orders of magnitude behind Linux in some situations.
Not sure if 10 is an upgrade from 7 desu. If you had 8 I'd recommend it.
I have a bunch of questions about thinkpads.
>Why is it better to buy a used thinkpad over a new one? Is it really?
>Is it worth waiting for Cyber Monday/black Friday to buy one?
>What thinkpads do you own, and why did you buy it? What price did you buy it at too? - Just interested to know which ones you guys bought, the main reasons, what you use it for, etc.

Hey guys.
I'm a second year SE student and I've been doing pretty well with my CS classes. But my prof slapped us with a inheritance example project due only a couple days after she assigned it to have it due before the thanksgiving break.
Anyway, I've had like no time to figure this shit out, and I'm stuck.
Basically, I have to have a superclass (called Person) that holds String variables name and birthYear, and two subclasses (Student and Instructor) that inherit those variables and add String major (for student) and String salary (for...

So what are you stuck on? It sounds to me like you understand what you need to do.
Seems like you got the instances part down, and as I understand it, you now have to write 3 classes, right? Where exactly are you stuck? Did you already tried to write the superclass?
this is the superclass Person.
I have a constructor for no parameters and constructor to make one with set variables (name and birthYear).
Print should be the one that gets extended and overridden because the next two classes have to print their extra variable, but I'm not sure how to do that.
I have a macbook pro, i think it was a 2013 model.
It hasn't werked in over a year. As in it wont turn on. I think either the battery broke or the new charger i bought was a dud.
The original charger wasn't in good shape anyway, so that's why I'm unsure if it truly is broken. However the charger i got after, isn't that likely to be a dud.
I'm not hardware savvy. Is it worth tinkering around with it finding out what the main problem is and possibly buying parts to fix it? Seems a bit expensive to do so. The charger alone is expensive.
Or...

sell it

It's broken though, and due to the environment it was left in for over a year, it looks like it's in awful condition.

What's the best laptop for programming?
It has to work well with Linux (Ubuntu).
It will be used for pentesting/programming.
I prefer bigger displays.
Price is not really a problem, keep it as low as possible though.
Extra points for blocky/minimalistic/fancy design (see picture).
I'm searching for a new laptop too, so... Bump!
Zenbook UX305

I kinda dislike the touchscreen feature...
Still a great collection of atoms.
I want to try to install Gentoo. My main reason is learning more about Linux.
Should i try installing it in a VM or on my T410, which is the easiest?
>>51496008
If you're gonna try to install gentoo, I would seriously choose to install it in a VM first so that way if it doesn't go according to plan (or you don't like the de you chose) you can always scrap and rebuild.
>>51496081
As i thought! Thanks!
>>51496008
if you really want to learn, use linux from scratch

None.

I use PCI e. I have pretty great internet (for US) so its no problem really. Ping is low and I get 100 down 10 up. Too lazy to drill holes through my wall
