I want to make a piano-playing robot. This means I need 88 units of something that can apply 4-60N of force over a distance of ~1cm within ~10ms when initiated by an electric signal.
I don't particularly care whether it is a solenoid or some kind of pneumatic or hydraulic thing, but it needs to be able to modulate the force to play louder or quieter.
Anyone have any links or experience with this kind of thing?

Yeah, it's called get an engineering degree.
>>51651636
> 4-60N
=^)
>>51651636
like this?
>buy ssd
>dedicate it to virtual memory only
good idea y/n
You better buy a lot of detodated WAM than doing this
Would be better used as OS drive, if you can get 2 put them in a raid for even better.
You got 2 GB RAM bro, maybe you should just buy some more RAM
>>51651548
I had this idea in mind after reading something about virtual memory and how it is essential, even if you have a shitload of ram doing nothing in your PC. Also, muh gaymes
>2 GB ram
It's 4, actually.
About to upgrade it to 8 pretty soon, tho
Will technology be able to stop global warming, /g/?
No.
Nuclear energy is literally the only way
>>51651324
finally someone smart on this board
if only we would scale them down rather than up, events like cherny wouldn't happen, but sadly nuclear energy is still "too scary" for real research to be done.
Which does less evil?
Which does most?
Are intel and nvidia still jewing customers and spying on them or using remote shutdown shit? It's been a while.
Yes they are. AMD is the only choice
It only they'd release a decent processor i could go full AMD
>>51651202
Nvidia is evil, AMD is incompetent (but getting better), Intel is lazy and sort of evil.

Hello /g/,
need advices from experienced people here.
I'm developing a mobile app, which should connect to a webserver using RESTful APIs.
So, basically, I have to start writing the goddamn server.
I saw hundreds of frameworks for REST web service, but I don't know which one to pick.
Also, I haven't figured out which language I should use, yet.
I would go for Python, but I'm concerned about performances...
Help me out, /g/, pls
>>51651195
Are you going to be doing this yourself or collaborating with others? What languages do you know? Are you willing to learn things?
Either way, I can offer a few recommendations. If you care about speed and realtime features, and are willing to learn things, look into Elixir and Phoenix. PHP, Ruby on Rails and Django will all have fairly similar performance(same order of magnitude), but there are ways to scale them up depending on how much you need. RoR is by far the slowest though, and if you do go with PHP...

Server and android client will be my responsabilities.
I know many languages, and willing to learn more if it's necessary.
Right now I'm reading Fielding's thesis, just to make sure how to stick properly with the model.
I would like to keep things as simple and clear as possible, that's why I dropped Django on this.
Elixir seems a good choice, btw
>>51651195
Not OP but Elixir looks really cool and boasts a lot of performance pluses. Is it worth it? Is it being used in production?
I've not used Erlang, should I learn Erlang first?
I've had an MX518 for years now, and it's time to upgrade. What should I get?
>>51651177
Depends on what you want. I really like the DeathAdder 2013. Feels incredibly comfortable, but I understand some people have issues with Razer products.
You want a Zowie FK, my nigga.

That's just you being retarded and being unable to perform one of the most simple tasks you could perform on GIMP.
Hey /g/,
My user base mostly consists of people who can't seem to grasp the concept of "If it's unsolicited, and asks you to turn on macros... It's probably bad". I'm looking for a way to straight up disable the auto run feature for word macros.
Thoughts:
-Any way (across the domain via gpo or something) I can disable the auto_open and/or workbook_open functions?
Limitations:
-Already have decent user training in place so can't touch this, they ignore it anyways.
-Can't just block word docs...
-Email filter...

My users are masturbating to pictures of AMD drivers. The pictures are opened by word macros, how do I stop these idiots?
