Will technology be able to stop global warming, /g/?
>>
No.
>>
Nuclear energy is literally the only way
>>
>>51651324
finally someone smart on this board

if only we would scale them down rather than up, events like cherny wouldn't happen, but sadly nuclear energy is still "too scary" for real research to be done.
>>
>>51651356
My power is always ~60% Nuclear, go Canada senpai.
>>
No because technology is the main cause of pollution.

It's like trying to clean a pile of shit throwing more shit at it.
>>
>>51651324
I still don't understand why hippies don't like it

It has to be their perfect wet dream. No CO2 emissions, high efficiency on little space, destroying as little nature as possible, where's the actual problem?
>>
>>51651390

Its waste product
>>
>>51651390

muh nuclear waste

what's literally one little accident?

thousands of people die in car crashes and cigarettes and alcohol each year and they haven't banned them yet
>>
>>51651324
>whole world goes nuclear
>deplete uranium supply within 20 years

Then there's this.
>>
>>51651390
it literally doesnt go further than
>muh chernobyl

Helmut Kohl sold out ALL of germanys nuclear energy. What did they get instead? Coal and russian fucking gas.

Kohl himself was awarded a seat on the board of Gazprom.

Way to fucking go environmentalist fucktards

Every city should have their own thorium reactor

instead of just buying fucking corn or wheat or some other useless shit to give to poor countries, they should buy nuclear reactors in bulk and ship them there

jesus christ there is fucking nothing in this godless world that infuriates me more than dimwit pants-on-head retarded greenies and their fucking anarchoprimitivism

if you listen to greens you WILL end up like north korea
>>
>>51651430
Reactors destroy about a pound of Uranium a year in order to create GW's of constant power.. Nice troll..
>>
>>51651430
modern reactors can chew down on fuel rods for a good fucking while man

aint that 3 % energy efficiency from the 50's with modern tech

correct

The only valid answer is NO.

All we can do at this point is try to revert human progress and go back to the cave ages.
>>
>>51651306
You people, yeesh. Global warming was debunked over a decade ago.

No, i won't cite sources. Expend some effort and do your own damn research. Maybe you'll actually learn something.

Proble fuck it up even more.

but muh nuclear waste

What could possibly go wrong.

senpai the year of linux desktop will be upon us one of these years and gaems will finally be in the right place
>>

libtards and their maymays

are you going to riot at the next big volcano eruption demanding to limit its CO2 emissions?
>>
Guns.
Killing people is much more effective than pissing around with solar panels.
>>
hopefully no
>>
>>51651545
you know its the year 2015 and not fucking 1948, right?

reactors today can be built so fucking simple a god damn toddler could handle it

you build in failsafes that makes it impossible to cause a meltdown even if you fucking tried

PLUS it runs on fucking thorium, the element of NORSE GODS which is so god damn harmless you can sprinkle it over your breakfast cereal if you want to

and you can sprinkle that shit left and right because its straight up ABUNDANT in the worlds oceans

>tfw hippie

i love nuclear, its the best thing since sliced bread, but the americans being deathly afraid of chernobyl part2 (when no one knows WHY cherny popped) is seriously hauling progress.

>poor / rushed construction of reactor 4
>public announced it's operation before forming a serious test
>asshole comes in to help with the test, ignores low coolant warnings
>proceeds to make a bunch of really bad decisions like pulling the control rods completely out
>the little water there was vaped and pressurized
>boom, the worlds largest dirty bomb

Chernobyl was not a "nuclear" accident, it was combination of poorly trained staff, and a very poorly built reactor that was never properly tested before being put on display.

Also the fascination with larger the better is so wrong with nuclear energy, its better to build 4 small reactors than one large one, less nuclear material, less heat, far less chance of a meltdown, at the expense of slightly higher running costs.

Funfact: Coal plants put more carcinogens in the air monthly than cherny did when it popped
Funfact: the nuclear car that was almost put into production, is just a bit safer than your gas powered engine in an automobile accident

Nuclear Solar, and wind are the only clean resources we have left.

We can't produce wind,
we can't product solar light,
but we can produce plutonium.

fucking nuclear cars when

What could possibly go wrong?

I mean seriously, there's no sentient life in third world countries to be damaged.

Because what defines an enviromentalist isn't being pro enviroment, but being anti capitalist. Capitalism needs power to keep production up and lower prices, so they aim to weaken capitalism by demonizing efficient power sources.

That's all there is to it really.

Pic related are valid arguments against nuclear power.
>>
>>51651595
what Im telling you is that whether a typhoon the size of your mothers ass (which petitioned to officially be named a continent at the royal geological society this week) or some random goat fucking jihadis hit one of these reactors not a single fucking thing will happen because the nuclear process at work shuts itself down

god
>>
What you need to learn about nuclear power is that the reality is irrelevant, facts are irrelevant, and our desperate need for energy is irrelevant.

Nuclear is scary, and this is all that matters.
Coal isn't scary. It's all about emotions. Over the 20th century people have been trained to make decisions based on emotion and not logic and this is not going to change until there's some sort of financial collapse.
great depression 2.0 electric boogaloo is coming, and no-one with the influence to do anything gives a shit because they're not the ones who will be in trouble.
During the Indian famines during british colonisation, it's not the rich who starved to death when food became unaffordable.
>>
>>51651430
Go thorium reactor maybe. What? You havent saw that anywhere? I expected it.

Discussing nuclear energy on a board where half of the users are too stupid to install Linux. What could go wrong...
