I have a low opinion of Gentoo GNU/Linux.
Gentoo is a GNU/Linux distribution, but its developers don't recognize this; they call it "Gentoo Linux". That means they are treating me and the GNU Project disresepectfully.
More importantly, Gentoo steers the user towards nonfree programs, which is why it is not one of our recognized free distros.

Gentoo has license groups, which means you can install free software only by masking software with non free licenses. Gentoo is the only major distro which you can have fully free software without having to use a spinoff distro.
So my wife's son and me are sharing one connection. He's torrenting allday and I get a bad ping for gaming. What do.
I'm about to wipe my win7 ultimate gaming PC and was wondering if I should just reinstall win7 or should I take this time to jump to 8.1 or 10 instead? Thanks.
why arent you using the most secure browser?
im saying this based on some experienced i had with malware, it could copy itself onto every browser (including mozilla and chrome) but not opera.
mind you i couldn't get rid of it until i reinstalled windows
What is the best program for hiding files on Android?
For example, I want to save images on 4chan (SFW and NSFW) but I don't want my roommate to accidentally find them.
And yes, It'll be used for porn too. Don't ask.
So before you bigots start blasting me for not using Google or Youtube before posting such a question. I'm curious to know what /g/ thinks about my question since you guys are meant to be... experienced.
Learn java, progress to C++.
Using java is great for learning because the compiling is minimal meaning you can easily test tiny changes to the code.
Furthermore, hotswapping code is possible, meaning that you can change code to see what changes as you do it.
Finally, Java and C++ are relatively similar (inb4 /g/entlemen go nuts) and are easy to learn from the other.
OK, now what faggots?
Hello /g/, I'm looking into browsing the deep web for the very first time.
My reason? Just simply curious to see what is on there. I'm aware that I will most likely come across porn, gore, drugs and other illegal stuff. No, I am not going to be making any purchases at all.
Do any anon's on this board have any tips on how you can stay extra safe while surfing the deep web?
>overclock from 3.5 to 4.5ghz on 6 cores
>run Chrome, Skype, play movie in background
>no more than 33 Celcius
why don't you overclock?
>implying three apps of which two can use gpu acceleration put any strain on a 6 core.
Run some real program that actually makes the cpu put in some work. Oh wait, there aren't any on your fedora-tipping OS.
Is there any benefit to buying a GPU if I'm not a gamer?
how does your browser's start pages looks, /g/ee?
/g/ any tips on getting my reaction images under 1kb?
I've been resizing using imagemagick so the largest dimension is 150px as I believe that's the largest dimension a thumbnail can be on 4chan (OP thumbnail limit is 250px?)
For the simple black and white ones I can do +dither -colors 2 -type bilevel and that reduces them substantially (+dither helps a lot keeping it smooth/not speckled)
and also pngcrush -brute to compress them further. in near all the reaction images the png is smaller than gif
For coloured images it's much harder. When there's...

use optipng or if you want maximum compression, zopflipng.
pngwolf + zopflipng can help too.
I want to learn programming for most likley making software and stuff. What language dose /g/ recommend for starting out
What is this shit?
ITT: We play bingo and discuss alternatives to the botnet.
You use Windows rather than Linux
You use MPC-HC with madVR rather than mpv
You use uTorrent 2.2.1 rather than qBittorrent
Chrome rather than Failfox
MeGUI rather than FFmpeg
QAAC rather than Opus
This is how you avoid the /g/ botnet.
