On what does /g/ listen music ?
I've tried this FLAC thingy, but I can't tell the difference between FLAC and 320kbps MP3.
I am using built-in laptop speakers (which is probably why I can't tell the difference) and Android phone with some good earphones.
Is FLAC worth your HDD space ?
Should I convert to .ogg and be open-source guy or listen to .mp3 and stay pleb ?
Why would you ever need anything except for C, Scheme, Haskell and Prolog?
I know it's bait, but there are too many people who unironically think this.
Why would you NEED anything except for manually typing out machine code?
Why would you NEED to use a functional language like Haskell, but you don't NEED to use an OOP language like C++ or Java?
>stop liking what I don't like!
Why should I study electrical engineering?
Can someone actually explain to me without memes why running windows 10 and Google Chrome is considered "muh botnet.
This shit is pissing me off.
I'm currently trying to restrict how much control Microshills have over my Win10. I know a big part of that is in the Update and Security screen. Shockingly, I cannot access it. If I'm online it's just stuck, it loads nothing, if I click on the categories on the right-side of the menu nothing happens. It's a stuck static screen. Pic related.
If I'm offline (unplug the ethernet) it closes itself as soon as it opens.
What the fucking fuck. How do I fix this shit?? I read about performing a clean boot. If...

I'm so mad I can't type
>/g/ hates Nvidia
>Nvidia is the only brand that actually makes decent drivers for their precious ganoo+linux
Why do you hate the hand that feeds you?
non-audiofag here. I am sick of effects being loud as fuck during movies while the dialogue is still too quiet. I have fixed this issue by using 'normalize' in the MPC settings.
what does this actually do? am I suffering some kind of quality loss? probably doesn't deserve a new thread but maybe you can turn it into a player argument. MPC+madVR here.
>I am sick of effects being loud as fuck during movies while the dialogue is still too quiet.
Watch American dubs. They're too stupid to properly differentiate between explosions and voices, so have louder voices relative to effects than other countries.

What are you working on, /g/?
Working on my XML parser in C.
I decided to just ignore the names of closing tags as there is no reason to check it in valid XML. I guess if I was parsing HTML it would be useful as not every tag needs a closing one.
are metal keycaps worth anything?
I don't want to buy them and then regret it because they basically suck
Do you like the feel of conductive heat? Do you avoid holding heavy shit over your keyboard? Do you have sweaty hands?
If you said no to any of these, then do not buy. Otherwise buy them, because metal and plastic do not change key travel of the switch, only weight does.
Just make sure they arent heavy af.
Is running Linux as your primary OS a bad idea?
I just imagine all the people that install Arch or something and put all their important files on there only to have it crash a week later and have no way to recover everything.
Or they're leaving out of town for a week only to have their wifi suddenly not work.
And don't pretend Linux is stable, all community forums are filled with "how do i fix" threads, many with dead ends.
Tfw installed arch before school started.
Tfw everything works just fine OOB.
Tfw I don't have to fight with the OS anymore.
Tfw I have a backup of all my files anyway.
Been 3 months and no crashes nor anything just stopped working. Feels good. On win10, shit would just stop working and I had to reboot to make it work again.
If you were given a choice to buy a new rig what would you decide.
>Buy from a local store with some branded and some never heard names or...
>somewhere 100 miles away where it is a popular parts store and all parts are branded and well known.
No online shops like amazon and newegg.
Not be retarded and buy online.
First option you're pc won't be exactly what you wanted it to be and might regret your decision
Second driving 200 miles for some pc parts is bad use of my time and priorities. Still limited selection and might regret build
So /g/, which is the better phone? OnePlus X, or Xiaomi Redmi Note 3?
Or does another similar budget smartphone beat them both? Discuss.
>Xiaomi is a meme.
Quite the contrary.
Xiaomi doesn't focus on markets outsides of China and India, good decisions.
Western people are really cranky and love to bitch about everything.
Xiaomi are quality products.
One Plus on the other hand is really a meme product with its retarded invitation system trying to be exclusive.
Hey guys, I have burned a windows 7 ISO onto a 4.7gb DVD and am trying to boot my computer from this disk. I have done this many times before with no issues except now when I try to boot from the CD drive it just loads windows as normal.
I have tried burning it using 'CDburnerXP' (the program I normally use) and the windows 10 built in burner.
I don't have any bootable flash drives spare so DVD is my only option, any ideas why this could be happening?
>inb4 /g/ is NOT your personal tech support team
I know and I'm sorry, but you guys are just so damn good at troubleshooting.
Also it's worth mentioning that I have tried this on multiple computers and with different disks and burning methods, also I have tried using the DBAN ISO that I have and the same issue, it just boots windows as normal.
I see, you are a bit of a newb when it comes to PCs
Nevermind, I'll help.
>get windows iso
>plug in USB stick
>burn bootable USB stick
>go to bios
>change primary boot device to USB stick
Please try at least 2 minutes of google before posting questions like this, you lazy fuck.
Also, NEVER use fucking DvDs again. Its a huge waste of money, much slower and totally unnecessary.
FYI this is the DVD I'm using. It's different to the ones I usually use but they were cheap and I really didn't think it would make a difference
Sub $100 chink tablets thread.
Got one of these. Not too bad really. Does general Android shit and is easy to root.
What is good programming language to learn first and why?
