I'm selling this to a friend and I don't know whay a fair asking price would be.
3d mark score was 7244 if that helps at all.
Base was a Dell Inspiron (580 iirc) that I bought in 2009. I upgraded the power supply to a 500w one, video card is 780ti, and added some cheap RAM.
My guess would be ~$350
I came up with the same estimate before seeing your guess.
I know it's a friend but please make sure you stipulate what (if any) your terms for support are. Things like "the parts are what they are, I think in good faith that they're solid but I'm not on the hook if they short out tomorrow" and "don't come to me after one week with software support issues."
$350 would be a good friend price for that setup desu famalam. GTX 780s still sell for $200-250 on eBay though.

Yeah I'm not interested in splitting it up, I'm not really desperate for cash and I'd rather see my PC go to a friend who would appreciate it and he also has a kid now so I feel like it would be a good home.
I'm a bit attached to it still haha

Linux noob here. In the YT vid, he browses the package manager and in the IRC clients, there was emptyness. Does this mean I have to manually download software I want to use or I can download it with the PiSi?

Any other great looking Linux OS'es to try?
If there was a small payment of say $30 dollars a month that you could pay and download anything you wanted, legally, would you do it?
>>54464981
Including CP?
>>54464981
>download anything you wanted
So I'd get infinite bandwidth at speeds fast enough to download all of it in a month for only 30 dollars?
Maybe. The price sounds absurdly low--I can download way, way more than $30 worth of software a month--but as it stands right now I don't even spend $30 anyway.
Does /g/ know how to properly pirate windows? Currently typing from the windows machine, but I don't have a product key or anything. I've heard about Daz, but I'm suspicious about the links I find.
tl;dr Help me activate windows without buying it.

Is Kali Linux any good?
have you ever tried it?
Is it a meme?
It's a meme.
kali is a debian based distribution you're supposed to run from livecd or a usb stick not install on your computer
Hey /g/
I recently aquired 3 harddrives with 1.64 TB of total storage (2x 500 GB and 1x 640 GB) and a generic shitbox pc with a sempron at 2 GHZ and 3 GB of ram (the shitbox also has a 320 GB harddrive but I think it's a maxtor drive so I might just throw that away).
What should I do with all of these, seems like a shame to just leave it lying around and I have no one to give it to.
Any idea's are welcome
bump
please help /g/
Web server? Distro hopper? NAS? Those are some basic ideas since you have some storage space. I think there are a few websites with suggestions as well.
>>54464625
whats the socket for the semperon? maybe u could swap it out for a better CPU, put some more ram into it and turn it into a smol server.
GTX 1080
>"When Huang pulled up the GPU's stats, it was running at 2.1 GHz and the memory was running at 5.5 GHz. That's faster than any GPU today, except for one of its last generation cards with liquid nitrogen cooling. Most remarkable? The 1080 was just just relying on air cooling. It was running at 67 celsius"
>$700
What's the catch?
>>54464540
>What's the catch?
/g/ will be filled with buttmad amd posters for another product cycle
The catch is the 980 cost $550 and now you're being double jewed

So, uh, this is bad, right?
>>54464433
No it is perfectly fine. But if you want even lower temps I suggest you install Gentoo.
>>54464433
I think your max temps are higher than what Intel specifies for the chip. So yeah, that's bad.

What do you guys think about Pocket C.H.I.P ?
I'm terribly tempted to purchase one, but the pricetag (49$) makes me a little hesitant.
It's been bugging me for quite some time now.
You anons are my last resort.
So what does /g/ think?
Should I or should I not?
Also: Microcomputers/Microcontrollers general thread
>>54464248
Overpriced garbage. Every SBC add-on is for some reason. Probably because retarded tech hipsters will buy it anyway.
>>54464248
>Pocket C.H.I.P
it only costs $50 you poor fuck. buy it and get it over with, op.
Why when this exists
Do you use pic related?
No, despite spending tons of hours at a computer everyday. I have no idea what I'm doing right but I almost never get hand or wrist pain. (The only exception has been when I started using software that had me right-button dragging a lot and I wasn't used to it.)
No but I think I need one. I'm also afraid people will think I use one because I masturbate too much.
>>54464207
For what purpose?
I can't believe NVIDIA is going to get away with the 3.5 fiasco. People seem to forget so quickly.
THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!
PLEASE BUY AMD
Explain, please?
What is this 3.5 situation?
That depends if amd delivers OP, I have no brand loyalty
>>54464203
People forget and anger fades. It's like when video gayme companies do anti-consumer things and everybody's furious and vows never to buy their games again, and then Battleborn comes along and everybody buys it anyway.

>Microsoft stops AMD users to get more out of their hardware, if they don't use win10
>My 290X will never see fabolous DX12 performance
I don't want to downgrade to win 10 and not everyone has mantle
Wat do?
>>54463725
I'm also in the predicament, was going to cave and buy better but is there now any need to do so?
>>54463725
Install gentoo and tell devs if they don't port the game to linux you won't buy it.
>>54463725
Well it seems you will have to install w10. Considering you play with closed source electronic toys I dont think privacy is or should be a concern to you.
