What is THE MOST customizable desktop environment?
This changes EVERYTHING, again.
What do you guys think of my partlist? I wanted to put a seasonic PSU in it but they had no price data for them
Anybody want my teamviewer login for the night ask here say what you es would do amd I'll post it
What are decent gaming laptops these days? I haven't shopped around for a laptop in a long time.
Yes, I know, gaming + laptop is dumb. I already have a PC I built at home with a 980ti and 6700K so I don't need this to be top end, pushing VR sort of thing. I'm leaving the country for 3 months for work and I won't be able to haul my desktop and a few monitors with me, so I'd like to get something portable I can at least play Rust/Overwatch/etc on. I've got an Asus G75VW-AS71 that is 4 years old (660M card). I don't think it will be able to really run any modernish games so I'm hoping to be able to snag something decent before I head out there.
I hope I'm not shitting up your board with this post, but I was wondering if any of you guys would want to get paid to restore my website.
It's a one-time job unless you are very skilled, but Craigslist doesn't work anymore since everything is flagged, and all the other boards told me to ask you guys.
I need someone to extract my old website from WayBackMachine and provide me with reusable source code, CSS, and stylesheets so I can re-integrate it to my hosting service.
The website is fetish porn that doesn't involve nudes.
Genuine question, if all you need is your old site extracted from the wayback machine, what's in the way of you doing it on your own? I don't recall it being too difficult to save pages from there.
So randomly my screen will look like this and then just shut down. It usually does this after about 5 min of being on. But today i got it to work for 1 hour and then it shut down again.
1. Check your CPU/GPU temperatures. Preferably, log them to a file, so you don't lose them on crash. If they're high, clean out your system and try re-applying the heatsinks to your CPU and GPU.
2. Run memtest86+ overnight, see if your RAM is going wacky.
3. Try running with onboard graphics instead of a dedicated GPU.
If all of the above are fine, you've probably got a busted motherboard.
My GPU seems to throttle down when overvolting. I'm currently running kombustor at 1.3v and my GTX 780s core drops down from 862Mhz to 666Mhz. Anyone had simlar issues?
Getting tired of the now lackluster performance of my 6 year old laptop. Don't own a smartphone, but was considering getting one and ditching the computer altogether. Anyone ever try this? I mostly just browse and watch youtube anyway, and even that I can do on my xbox.
I hope whoever approved the Google Home project is on the street right now. What a waste of money and resources. Did no one stop and think "hmmm maybe people aren't comfortable having their voices being recorded at all times during the day"?
Tech companies discovered no one cares about that shit, unless it is another person holding the camera. Mainly because they are afraid of the video winding up on youtube and becoming viral.
OP do you actually think you're right? Google Home will sell like crazy. I'm going to buy one. Are you worried that the device will be recording everything? If you're posting on /g/ then you should know that something like that is trivially easy to detect and Google is not stupid.
The device is going to be scrutinized by nerds all over the world including yourself and all you will find is that it does nothing different than typing your searches into Google manually.
I hope you use a Windows Phone (lmfao) or else you are one stupid piece of hypocritical trash.
How would /g/ go about acquiring the skills for a position like this if you've been doing systems engineering/SRE work for a few years and want to go more low level? I have some programming knowledge (c++, java courses) but professionally I've only written scripts for purposes of automation.
Which OS is the best for java development?
Just found this service that allows you to netboot the installation of the most common distros from anywhere without having to create your PXE server.
Did anybody try it and has some experience to tell me if it's worth it?
It hosts the images of the OSes I use plus some handy tools that can always become useful.
I was in the process of setting up my PXE environment but at this point I guess I'll scrape everything in favour of this service... I just hope download speeds from their servers is not crap

Let's say (and i know this is impossible but for the sake of conversation) all of the internet in the entire world goes out except for the internet in one country, permanantly. Which country would it be? Would that country develop it's own internet? Would people flock to that country?
The internet is essentially a shitload of powerful routers spanning the globe. So if a country was somehow disconnected from the rest of the internet, they'd simply reconnect to the rest of the world.
Fellow linuxfags, what is a good program that does the same thing sandboxie does on windows but for linux?
