Is this for extreme overclockers then? I see no point in this service otherwise.

>stupid kid buys CPU

Memes.
Memes aside, is being software developer a decent career choice?
Is it worth doing a computing degree just to become a software developer?
UK btw. It seems like they're more geared towards R&D.
>>54639443
Fellow britbong here
Software development is actually surprisingly fun as a career. I could do this forever tbf
>>54639474
Did you do a degree or did you self teach yourself?
If you like curry fags then dev is for you.
>Installing a Linux distro and all of the updates takes 30 minutes
>Installing Windows 10 and installing all of the updates takes hours
Why?
>>54639322
because you'll spend they next half of your life finding fixes on linux for the daily issues you encounter while on Windows it will just werk for years without needing user intervention.
>>54639410
>Windows
>just werk

Last thread some wiseguy told me to get a RAID server. What the heck is that and why's it better than having 3 good ol' external hard drives and stackin' 'em in my cupboard? Fuggin guy
Also some faget mod deleted the thread
I just wanna know if it is o.k. to stack my external hard drives @ nite, got damm
>>54639268
There you go.
>>54639297
Wrong in so many ways...
>>54639297
RAID = Redundant Array of Independent Disks
RAID must be done with the same drives but RAID 1, 5 and 6 can handle a drive failures without losing data so it's much safer than just copying your files to an external disk.
Jobs thread?
Work in help desk, it's grinding. Been doing it about a year. How do I go about applying for jobs internally in my IT Department. Do I have to tell my manager? I just want fucking out of help desk really. I am extremely bored.
How come i keep seeing this stock photo guy everywhere. Am i the only one that notices that its always the same stock photo guy?

Don't know about you, but I kinda like the new default cinnamon theme.
Yea Arc-Green isn't bad.

>>54640982
The new default theme is a forked Arc.
What's the ideal size for a 1080p monitor? One person told me 23 inches, the other said 24, so I wanted to double check.
this is fucking dumb I can't believe you made a thread for this
it's 25"
size doesn't matter
Would it be possible to program photo recognition software which looks at an image then tell me the things written on it. Does something like this already exist? I know schools and colleges use this to mark papers and there is already tons of photo recognition software, but is there something I can use for personal use?
Google ocr
>>54638938
Apparently it only works on pdf? Is there something which works on image formats like jpeg, png etc? It's good, but I can't use pdfs because they'd be too large for what I'm trying to do.
Thanks for the suggestion though, I really like it.
>>54638997
Nevermind I'm an idiot, it works on image formats too. Thanks.

Which framework do you use/prefer and why?
I learned Laravel a year ago in college but had no use for it so I haven't used it since.
I'm learning rails now for my job. So far it seems easier and faster to get things up and running.
Django, pretty comfy because python
Flask because I like small and straightforward.
>No JS framework on that list
all 3 are garbage
nodeJS +reactJS +mongoDB nigga
Sup /g/, lost my job today, state-side engineering org downscaling just so Dinesh can write code twice as shitty for half the price. Should I drink the koolaid and learn Ruby so my job hunt is easier, or retain my dignity? I'm at a pretty low point so my judgement is clouded, do right by me.
