So, what Windows software do my /g/entoomen have on their machines? Which lesser used ones would you suggest?
>SharpKeys - easy key reallocation on broken keyboards
>Opera Dev - has working built-in VPN, unlike stable Opera
Why so old 7zip with a huge security flaw?

Anyone got books/information/tools or anything on how to create your computer as anti-forensics and as secure as humanly possible?
Since windows 10 rapes privacy I would like to change that for my computer. Basically I want to have any information before a wipe invisible and have a reasonable amount of privacy after a wipe.
>learn how to use iptables
>don't use windows
>>55579717
I have heard only little stuff about it. Can you explain it more?
>>55579740
It is a firewall that you can use to filter/block packets. For example, say you wanted to only allow certain addresses or just localhost to connect to a certain service. This will prevent unauthorized access. You can also filter packets leaving your machine.
read: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Iptables for more info
Currently using BitDefender free.
Simple UI, no complicated menus, non pesky notifications.
What do you use and why do you recommend it?

Avira, I know /g/ shits on it, but it hasn't failed me yet
Please don't say fucking MSE or Windows Defender lol

>tfw watching nvidia burn to the ground as AMD rises out of the ashes like a phoenix
This is it for nvidia. Any last words greenfags?
Bait
Also, AMD is going to keep fucking up until they are bought out by Samsung.
Nvidia could literally shit into a plastic case, put it together with a few woodscrews, and sell it for $299 and it would still get more sales than all of AMD's gpus combined
Lets face it, they already won the brand name war. AMD is the bad driver company that isnt the way its meant to be played, plus Nvidia sponsors good games while AMD sponsors shitty ones

Besides complexity, why do we say that it's impossible to write code without bugs? Is it because the program can have infinite number of inputs that influences the control of logic?
It would require a bug-free program be compiled by a bug-free compiler for a bug-free operating system on a bug-free processor in a cosmic-radiation-free universe
So no, it's impossible
>>55579429
Cosmic radiation can be shielded from.
>>55579334
We don't say that. It's just far harder to write than bug-free code is worth

Why haven't you converted to the dashchan master race yet?
All other chan apps pale in comparison.
Discuss. Complain. Debate. Shit post.
I still have clover. Seems that even without the updates, it works fine
>>55579850
This, I haven't updated since 1.2.11 and it still works, why switch?
I also have clover v1.2.11. Sweeping through images on a thread fails of you don't definitely swipe left or right. Some times a specific image refuses to load, unless you restart the app.
Dash chan has all of the same features, and less bugs.
As I started to use Linux I realised I need to be proficient with Bash and Python/Perl.
If I want to write my own system scripts, is Bash more preferable to Python? What are the pros and cons? Also, does python has code completeion like Bash/Zsh?
I am very new
>>55579216
Sorry for the typos as well
>>55579216
INITIAL D
bash is mainly used for small things.
Python is generally used for applications that are a little bigger.
There's no rule, really. You use what you want. There are some very small scripts written in Python and some enormus bash ones.
Hey /g/,
I'm looking into learning computer programming
(HTML, C++ etc) and would like to know more information.
If anyone has any information about it,
how to learn it, how to get jobs with it and
how to continue learning it would awesome to
hear your stories and advice.
Alittle background on me;
>24 years old
>started building and using computers @ 14
>above basic knowledge of computers
>never pursued...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Nobody learns that at school. Just search for some tutorials or guides to get you started. Make your own personal projects as much as you can. Come to the daily programming thread for any help.
Here are some thingies to do once you know the basics.
>>55579306
Thanks for the feedback!
Also, I've heard that computer coding
involves a lot of math. What math would be
involved?
I could certainly Google the answer, but I find that some sites "dumb" down or don't completely tell you exactly what you need.
So its nice to hear it from someone who actually does this for living.
>>55579206
Same here but 20 :D
Let's see the answers
What's /g/'s opinion on Smooth Video Project? I bought it because I like to support developers who make great shit. Also I fucking love watching movies on my 144Hz monitor.
For the uninitiated, SVP interpolates movies so you can watch 24 fps movies at your monitor refresh rate. You can use it for free but in the paid version you have some more features like black bar removal and performance enhancement.
>>55579187
It kind of looks like shit in my opinion. Some things look good but others look completely fake. It would be better if it was able to dynamically interpolate.
>>55579325
If by dynamically interpolate you mean interpolate while you are watching the movie, that is actually the sole purpose of SVP.
Its too ambitious. Even some of the best interpolating software is only used to go 50<>60, 24<>25 and 25<>30.
Going like 24>75 was always going to look shit.
Why aren't you using the Trinity Desktop Environment?

So are HP laptops good, or bad?
Thinking of getting the spectre 13 and I can't tell. People here usually say it's shit but my friend has a stream 11 and it looks quite nice.
Plus I saw this last night so I'm not sure, will I regret buying HP?
>>55570566
I only had one HP laptop in my life.
Great portable heater, not so great computer.
This was almost 10 years ago though, so they might've improved.
