are you a victim?
if you ever applied the Juden paste or your cpu is smeared...you fell for a meme
>gpu's dont use paste, neither do consoles. 2 metals touching will conduct heat ALWAYS. try putting your hand in a coffee cup & then answer me if you need das Juden paste
>>55337854
My HD 5750 uses paste, my gt 730 uses it, and every xbox 360 I've ever ripped apart for mini sata cables has used paste too.

shocking, the gtx 1080 did a better job of being a housefire btw. Hope those new custom coolers are really cool.

Good one, think of that on your own?
I got excited because I thought it was a thread about reverse engineering. I was gonna talk about how to crack Oblivion. Oh well.
Looks like the Polaris 11 chip will be sold without full fat in the Radeon RX 460, the full thing has 16 CU.
Here are the slides: http://www.cnews.cz/radeon-rx-470-ma-2048-shaderu-rx-460-je-orizly-na-896-detaily-cipu-polaris-11
Seems that ComputerBase also posted that.
According to them, obscene amount of TDP goes into the fucking gddr5 memory.
RX 470: 110W full card, only 85W the GPU chip.
RX 460: 75W full card, only 48W the GPU chip.
RX 480: 150W card, 110W GPU chip.
I wish HBM got mainstream already, what a waste of performance.

a big slug of GDDR5(X) power goes to driving IO, but it's maybe only half.
the fundamental operations of opening (sensing/latching) rows and selecting columns is a much bigger long-term problem, since it's not really scaling down well at all with new process nodes, and it implies there might be intractable per-access energy costs that will eventually overtake that will overtake those of computation in future GPU-type architectures.
the DRAM power wall is a real thing, and HBM style approaches only push it back a few years.
Technically GDDR5X is supposed to drop the power a bit, but it probably won't be nearly as good as HBM.
It has lower voltage and the 10gbps parts GTX1080 has have lower real clock than the stuff RX 480 and GTX 1070 have.
is cable management a meme??
>>55337509
Sort of. If your cables aren't restricting any airflow then their positioning doesn't really matter.
If you have a paneled case then no
>>55337509
I don't have a case window, and I don't sit and stare at the guts admiringly, but when I open it up to dust or upgrade something, I get a sense of pride from a nicely cable managed PC.
It's also to work inside it without a bunch of cables in the way.
Finally, if your cables all over the inside of the case, they will accumulate dust too, and getting that shit off at all angles with compressed air is a bitch.
why are you still using this piece of shit?
I'm not

Aus-faggot here. Looking for recommendations for a small hifi or bluetooth speaker for the bedroom. Don't need it loud, just for playing audio books and ambient music at night.
Just bought a Nakamichi Delta 50 but the thing has intermittent cut outs on Bluetooth and doesn't charge my phone with the USB port. Taking it back tomorrow.
The Sony SBT300WB looks nice but reviews are mixed and its apparently 3 years old.
>>55337428
look at Cambridge audio there mini systems are good
>>55337428
>3 years old
the basic design of that nakamichi is roughly 30 years old. audio doesn't rapidly progress like the rest of the shit on /g/.
if you're only using it for ambient noise and low-level speech, then pick up a pair of ANYTHING at the goodwill, buy a cheap amp and bluetooth receiver off amazon. bluetooth doesn't have to be a built in a feature.
and plug your phone into the $2 AC adapter that it came with.
jesus christ i just looked it up and...

I know, I didn't research. It was on sale for $199 and I didn't need anything fancy. But it can't even perform its basic functionality. So it is going back. The Sony is $349 at Good Guys, might just go for that. JB Hifi wants $495 for it, not sure it they will price match with a $150 difference.
I have an amazing idea for an app, how do i turn dreams into reality?
>>55337371
Learn to code.
>>55337371
Start with python. It's easy. Make a prototype. I suggest you learn PyQt
For public scale release re-program the software in C. Learn C and publish it.
have you ever made a flow chart? do that with your app idea. explain the big concepts and why it's great. write a 30 second pitch and a 5 minute pitch. find a non-disclosure agreement for software ideas and print out a bunch. then find coders and make them sign the nda BEFORE you tell them your idea. then go get rich or die trying, nigga.

what you use to encrypt the first layer?
cryfs? encfsmp? encfs? duplicati/deja-dup? cryptomator?
do you use a second layer? veracrytpt?trueCrypt? 7zip?
which is the machine that you use to provide your media?

You think Nvidia's wood screws were bad? At least they werent fake screws.
https://youtu.be/Uvhyrz5oDPo?list=WL&t=931
AMD's reference cooler uses fake screws for aesthetics to pretend to hold the dimpled surface onto the rest of the card. What a piece of shit.
>AMDone
>AMDrones will defend this
>AMD - Always Massive Disappointment
is this what /g/ has become
talking about fake screws
also it's a whole different problem; the wood screws on the fermi prototype was to say that nvidia didn't have real prototypes IIRC, here it's just aesthetic, worst case you can still get a 390 or a 780ti.

Get literally anything made in the last decade with Win7 minimum specs, throw an ssd in it and it will do just fine on the internet.
>>55337000
Pretty much anything will do, as long as its less than 10 years old. Hell, I rescued an old P4 with Win XP from the dumpster at work. It was almost unbearably slow, which is why the office manager tossed it. He let me take the rest of it so long as I removed the HD, drilled a bunch of holes in it, and gave it back to him.
I did, and replaced it with one of the old IDE drives I have lying around. I installed OpenBSD and Xfce on it, and now it works great. At least for lightweight stuff like web browsing. It...
