Honestly considering switching back from an iPhone to a dumbphone. Which dumbphone is the best?
Now go fuck yourself dirty hipster.
Nokia 515 if you care about looks and some functionality.
If you want rugged, the Sonim XP6/7 are awesome.
>>46232901
>>46232905
Hmm. Part of the reason I want a dumbphone is that I want to be less connected, though. Anything with literally just call/text?
Summarize this age old war to someone new into PC hardware.
They both produce about same quality products and people are stupid and apple-fanboyism-grade-brand-loyal

nvidia pays people to make them look good
AMD is too poor to do the same
Normal people who knows stuff will buy AMD for the value
People easily swayed by marketing buy nvidia
pic related AMD is pretty much the dominant one in price/performance in all market segements

Don't know OP, Ati doesn't exist
/g/, why are US carriers so behind the goddamn times? Every phone I've ever owned has gotten its software updates no less than 18 months after it came out everywhere else. Is it a monetary thing, or are they all just running on antiquated tech?
I can't answer that really, but are phones in the US really that seriously branded by the carriers?
>>46201816
Yes. Half the reason people root their phones is to get rid of all the stupid shit, although that doesn't do anything about the fact that the carrier etches their name in to the fucking glass.
>>46201875
Jesus, I didn't realise it was that bad. Some do the branding shit over here in the UK, but not as much.

Why did you name your browser after yourself?
So it's well known that most domestic printers insert tracking information into every page they print containing the printers serial code and timestamp so that the government can track who printed what.
What year did this start? I want to buy an old printer that doesn't have the tracking stuff

I reckon majority of /g/ are in their early to late 20s. Do you think you were born in the right time to enjoy technology or would it be better to be born 20 years later?
I can honestly say I don't miss growing up in the days of DOS or 56k dial-up. Being born 20 years later would be nice but at the current rate our resources are being depleted and increasing rate of population, things might not be too comfy.
>increasing rate of population
>resources being depleted
These are very localized events.
First world countries aren't in danger of overpopulation or resource depletion. In fact, many are facing crises due to low child birth rates (Japan now, and later the US and Russia), which get supplemented by increased immigration.
We're basically at the golden age of the free internet and cheap, inexpensive computing, accessible to anyone.
Expect that all to change in 20 years when computers are dumbed down to ultra-thin tablets that only use cloud storage and compilers, along with all forms of encryption are reclassified as cyberweapons, banning the practice of recreational programming and local storage.
It's only going to get worse from here on out.
Savor your modern life while you can.

28 year old here. I'm sure I'd enjoy tech regardless of when I was born.
People enjoyed technology for ages. The only reason the stuff like mainframes that use tape or punch cards don't get the love they deserve is the lack of mainstream exposure due to the price and every day capabilities. But many of the few people who used those machines enjoyed them for what they did.
In the future there will be even more capable, cheaper and easier to use machines, that will make today's...

/g/ I am shopping for earphones.
I'm looking for decent build quality and good sound.
Currently deciding between Xiaomi Pistons:
http://www.amazon.ca/Original-Xiaomi-Earphone-Headphone-Smartphone/dp/B00HUNUOJW
And these Koss earbuds:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/koss-koss-in-ear-headphones-kdx100-black-silver-165622/10201748.aspx?path=a5826f6ae819a5abb258e52cd0f012c2en02
Which ones are better, and are those Pistons real?
Just get soundmagic e10s. Those pistons do look legit though.
Don't buy pistons from Amazon. Loads of fakes on there. Rather buy from xiaomiworld.com, www.xiaomishop.com, geekbuying.com or pandawill.com

Could the Matrix be real? Realistically speaking
>>46102101
Maybe not the whole "human battery" part. But from a philosophical standpoint, yeah... We could all be living in a massive virtual simulation. It is possible, and would explain a few of the patterns and coincidences we see in the known universe.
Not in the form the movie shows it. That's clearly ridiculous.
But the basic concept that we're in some sort of simulation? Yeah sure why not.
Doesn't make life any less real. All life is to humans is what they receive through their senses and interpret with their brains, real is as anything is real.
What are you working on?

Hi folks!
Some time ago some guy stolen my laptop by entering in my house at night.
Today thanks to Teamviewer i manage to find is Ip and then is location!
He is in Tirana and he's using my laptop right now!
What can i do?
Cry as the faggot that you are destined to be forever
faggot
Can you actually start a teamviewer session and look at what he's doing?
I have his IP as well as a connection on TeamViewer. He is currently watching a movie. Suspects nothing.
What is /g/'s opinion on the 1+1? Need to change up my phone game, and this looks spec heavy for the price. I'm not familiar with Cyanogen, but I hear it gives that vanilla android feel (a must for me) and then some.
>>46079115
I'm currently posting from the OPO black sandstone 64gb edition and love it. I've had no problems yet and it comes with cyanogen pre loaded, so that's a plus.
>>46079224
Same here.
Loaded the CM12 nightlies, and I couldn't be happier. Battery life is stellar.
I'm pretty sure most of /g/ would want you to just rice your phone. Pic related
