Windows is and will always be the superior operating system. I work with Linux cucks everyday and the only thing they can say is muh page file muh less ram resources
>Better and more functional gaming experience
>Much better and way more stable graphic drivers capable of pushing the video card to the max
>Virtual Machines work way better in Windows with apps like VMWare and VirtualBox
>Applications go far in compatibility which ranges decades ago. I can open windows xp and even Windows 95 apps on a modern Windows 10 OS.
>Applications are tend to be built for Windows first and receive better treatment from developers
>Linux is for try hards who think they look different and show off a hipster vibe while they show me their elitle haxor skills. Saddly it doesn't work on the ladies now, does it?
>Windows is the most used operating system running in the most profitable businesses in the US.
>Open Source is a sham. In Windows you can make your own open source apps.
Hardware sucks right now. AMD is burning out mother boards. Nvidia 3.5 memes and planned obsolescence. Not to mention 1080gtx is like $990.00 dollars in canada...
I mean I could keep waiting for the next card but I want a new card.... Is it time to but a PS4 /g/?
Linux is a terrible operating system compared to the likes of Windows 7-10.
>Better compatibility with a long range of apps dating back to Windows XP
>Sets of different and highly functionable graphic APIs like Direct X 12
>Drivers that actually work and pull the PC hardware to its full power
>Every Steam game imaginable
>Quick boot up times
>No shitty terminal that becomes a chore and a annoyance
>The ease and simple usage
>Long range of game emulators that work and have stable builds
>When I goto am application I don't need to check which OS since everything is for Windows
>No shitty night time builds that are unreliable
>Not for try hard l33t hackers like lincucks
Windows for the fucking win. Go die
Cool bait, but in all serious Linux, and free and open-source software in general, suffer from many shortcomings. It has its place, though. Just like Windows and MacOS, which suffer from their own particular set of problems. No point in getting all riled up over it.
>compatibility with apps since windows XP
The Linux kernel still supports applications from 95 NT doe.
What is Vulkan? What is OpenGL? These are Standards that work on all platforms and operating systems (including windows) so there's no need for DX really senpai.
>drivers that actually work
"Waaaah, I couldn't load a kernel module!"

Guess who just installed Gentoo?! Can someone help me weigh the pros and cons of KDE vs XFCE? I'm not sure which would best suit my needs.
Hey guys, noob anon here, I'm using an android app to learn some things about Python, but I don't understand this code, can someone explain? The solution of the 2nd line says that I must fill with a +, but why?
Because "+=" means "the variable will add the following number to itself."
x += 5
is the same as saying
x = x + 5
which is the same as saying
"x's new value will be its current value plus five."
If you don't program in APL, Coq, or FORTH, and don't know/understand lambda calculus, you're not a hacker.
Bought a freesync monitor, sold R9 390.
Which direction woudl you go /g/
RX 480+freesync or 1070+vsync?
Considering the ~$200 price difference I'm leaning toward the 480. Ordered an 8gb model today for $230, but can easily return it.
I'm leaning toward waiting on an AIB 480 and returning the reference 480 or possible going with a 1070 if the price drops to around the MSRP of $380.
As someone who has used both G-Sync and Freesync I have to say that AMD has the better technology for this. When I played games like Battlefield 4 and Hardline for example. With my 290 I could play BF4/Hardline on Ultra with no AA and get about 60~90 fps at 1440p. But with Freesync it was incredibly smooth. It blew my mind. I mean it was buttery smooth.
But then I decided I wanted more horsepower and bought a 980Ti and a Gsync 1440p/144hz monitor. Sure now I can play BF4 and around 100 ~ 120 fps but it sure...

/g/'s opinion on PNY?
don't know about graphic cards
but i've used microSD and SDs from PNY and they deliver great performance at good price, so far none of them have given me problems, even i had one bent about 45 degrees (fucking macbooks and they readers that leave half of the card out) and still works
Just brought a nano USB flash drive to use as a keyfile store for my KeePass database.
Cheapest option per GB was 32GB. Since I'm barely using any that, what other shit should I keep on it?
Thought of a bootable Tails but I can't add FAT partition for the keyfile, allowing me to access from any system.
how does /g/ feel about this?
I'd be perfectly fine with it if MS cared to ever clean up Office Online. It runs like shit regardless of machine or browser and with a castrated feature set. While I'm okay using LO for personal stuff, work needs work files to...well, work.
Apart from that, whatever. I only use Windows for gaming and I only game because it keeps me connected with friends. As our interests change my connection to Windows will disappear. The business implications are their problem.
I was wondering if memory cas/timing matter anymore.
The lower the better, DDR3 and DDR4 have higher timings compared to old DDR ram paired with the slower memory controllers in modern CPU like Haswell and Skylake it needs to be compensated by faster ram.
If you're buying a Skylake CPU get at least 2400mhz DDR4 ram. if you're on a Haswell CPU get at least 1866mhz CL 8 or 9.
There was a very in-deep chart that paired timings + speed and resulting speed made when Skylake was released but I haven't seen it posted in a long time and I don't have it.
Does ram frequency really make that much of a difference? Not OP but but I just got a couple of 3200mhz rated sticks but I absolutely can't get xmp to work so they're running at stock speeds.
Whats the best Windows 10 phone released so far?
Youre at a party and this guy offers your gf the world's first 1ghz cpu. What do you do?
Even though we fight alot, I just want you to know that I will always love you guys
No matter if you osx, bsd, linux or windows, I will always care
This is probably a stupid question, but what is the best way to hook up my laptop to a separate monitor and keyboard so that I can use it like a desktop? I have a Thinkpad T430, but I want to use it with my 23" monitor and Microsoft SideWinder X4 USB Keyboard. I don't even need the Thinkpad to be open; I just want to use it purely for its internal hardware.
