I'm using Windows 7 that I've never updated, so that Micro$oft cannot spy on me. And I'm wondering about all those zero days that are unpatched, due to no Windows Update.
How easy would my system be to remotely exploit and deliver a payload to with Kali Linux by a skid that just has my IP address?
>>51910243
just curious, why don't you use windows update? you could just install the "good" updates, like security-related stuff and skip all the telemetry bullshit etc.
there are lists of botnet KBs out there, just don't install those.
>>51910295
Because I'm paranoid some earlier updates might have them. Or there's some kind of hidden link microsoft can use with WU to install telemetry on your machine. I really don't like that there is entire teams dedicated to search through tagged images ripped from every window's user's machine on Earth that fall under categories of terrorism and child exploitation. Which I have nothing to do with, but I still think that is a massive breech of privacy and it sickens me.

Still incredibly difficult

programming isnt science, it isnt math, and it isnt real engineering. the T is stem stands for bullshiT, everyone knows this.
but anyways dude... if you cant get a job over filthy immigrants, you are too stupid to be in STEM, and you should not have even bothered with college. Don't fool yourself, you wouldnt have done well on the LSAT like your friend did. you were doomed either way.
Work your ass off freelancing for pennies, build a reputation, make more than $13/hour.
Don't know what to tell you.
Getting a job in this field is more about networking than anything else. Go to every meetup related to what you know and be as charming as you possibly can.

What possesses someone to want to use i3? I tried arch loonix, and was looking for tutorials on how to install software on youtube. And I came across these tutorials for this fucking bullshit called i3.
It was so fucking complex, and all it was, was fucking coloured fonts and borders and shit. Seriously?
It's just a tiling window manager. You don't have to really manage how the windows are positioned because it does that for you unless you float them. It's actually very simple to use and there's only a couple keyboard shortcuts that you need to know to actually operate it with proficiency, which are all customizable too.
I personally like it because I like the windows I spawn to consume as much space as possible and I like to switch between them without using my mouse. The addition of workspaces mean I can have a bunch of junk open at once and switch...

Most of us actually know what we're doing and why we want it.
Personal preference.
Without even ricing it I prefer it. I tend to split windows V/H anyways so being able to do it easily with keyboard shortcuts felt miraculous the first time I used i3.
It's one of the easier window managers I've found to configure so... that could just be experience over the years though.
Do I even fucking need this?
do you?

Why even ask this?
If you want to watch, rip and burn dvds and blu-rays then yes. if not no.

tar is famous for being "impossible to use" without googling it, yet it only takes 3 flags to do 99% of tasks with it.tar -cvzf whatever.tar.gz whatever
c - create
v - verbose
z - pass to gzip (z for gzip, j for bzip2, J for xz)
f - filename
to extract just use x instead of c.tar -xvzf whatever.tar.gz
So why aren't you using the latest and greatest(TM) input device yet?

Should I OC the CPU???
I kinda wanna push 3.6ghz out of it.
If so, how do?
Cooler is a 212 Evo btw.
I could get my Q9550 to 4Ghz so I'd say if it's a decent chip then you could get 3.4 out of it easily enough.
>>51911889
I was wondering if anyone was willing to hit me with a quick step by step of how to do so. I've literally never done it before. Wanna just OC this for the next 2-3 months before I do a complete upgrade.

No

Don't do it, Windows 8.1 is much better than 10.

Need some help with making webms.
Now I've used WEBM for Bakas for a long time in windows 7. But I recently installed win10 and now I can't use 4threads for ffmpeg stuff.
In win7 I was able to.
I have no idea what the issue is and google just gives me circlejerking linux results.
I'm pretty sure I installed ffmpeg correctly since it shows up in the cmd prompt.

>Need some help with making webms.

No one here can help you with ffmpeg unless you post the commands you are attempting to use (as well as the version you are using).
Make sure you use code tags to make it easier to read (see sticky if you are unfamiliar with code tags).
Again, post the command, and the entire output.

dumb question, but have you tried right-click running it as an admin? Win10 is closing in on linux's pohr requirement of putting in sudo all the time.
