Arch. AUR is great and you don't actually have to rice your desktop.
Why Arch
>rolling release
Everything is fresh and when I read some news about new kernel it is on my machine within few weeks. When theres new version of whatever application, its extremely fast in repos.
>AUR
The huge community driven repository that arch has - https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/
It feels like what was promised when I switched to linux, but has not been delivered in other distros. When I read about something, I can find it on AUR, when I see someone mention a new project, theres very likely a git package on AUR of it. It's incredible and makes arch feel much more comfortable than dicking around with google and PPA on buntu distros and such.
>ease of customizability
Of course you can play with any distro and switch stuff around, but arch is build from the ground up and maintained in the spirit that you get to choose your combination of packages, and if you want i3 on top of KDE with custom kernel running, it is absolutely prepared to guide you and deliver that. You have this ease of switching between DE/WM without leaving your distro in any way.

Fine by me I'll wait. My 4690k is serving me perfect other than long transcode times. I'll gladly wait if Zen delivers as promised.

Thats if they price it right. If amd makes something good for once on the CPU front, gets a big head, and jacks the orices sky high, they can suck my dick. I'll buy x99.

Why does /g/ care so much about status and whether you are poor or not? Why does it matter if some of us don't have the latest and greatest tech toys if what we currently have works just fine for our needs?
>>52309339
Poor people are just disgusting to be around in general. They're usually ugly, poorly-educated and smell bad. Obviously two of those don't matter here, but purging poor people would probably raise the level of discourse around here.

There are three ways to try Linux, you can:
1) Install a Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
2) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full Linux experience".
3) Dual-boot Linux with Windows/Mac (recommend if you want to learn more about Linux)
4) Go balls deep and overwrite everything with Linux (not...

Under themes like Adwaita and Paper, all window decorations are the same size. I have no idea why.
My biggest problem with Arc isn't that, but I wonder what sets Arc different from Adwaita in terms like this. People say client side decorations, but how can themes overide this?
Why the fuck should I code in Hipster.js?
Why would you use C?
There's literally no point except being elitist.
>>52308763
if you're writing an operating system, it's the top choice.
Why the fuck would you use a language from the 70s, that has evolved next to nothing, with no automatic memory management, lambdas, functional methods like map or reduce, small as fuck standard library that requires you either pull external dependencies or reinvent the wheel for simple things like doing an HTTP request, and used only in low-level situations? Do you like to be unproductive on purpose just to show your epic skills? Even the C creators have moved to Go, ffs.
why is gimp such a piece of shit?
Because nobody who understands HID has ever worked on the project.
Its fine actually
it#s not really bad, it's just that photoshop is far superior and the industry standard. it's fine if you take the price into consideration

Someone suggested a custom Sager but that seems like complete overkill, most of the tasks I'm doing fine on a Satellite a500-13f, it's mainly an issue on portability and battery-life, which was why I considered getting a thinkpad from all the praise it got here.
