Does anyone know any good sub-200 dollar netbooks/laptops?
I'm looking for good Linux driver support, 10-12 inch screen, very light weight (under ~5lb).
I found what would be perfect for me, the ASUS X205TA (pic related). It would have been perfect except you cant upgrade it's memory and it has shitty driver support.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, /cpd/ general.
>>52961509
yeah I can't really help with your request, still tho,I have a suggestion for others
> Kensington Keyfolio Pro 2 Universal
yeah,name is rubbish or whatever,BUT
> comfy to carry around in a backpack/suitcase
> incredible battery life
> offers protection for your tablet/6" inch+ phone
> compatible with almost anything if it has bluetooth (so far i've tried it with Samsung Smart Tv,ps4,iphone,samsung galaxy s6 edge, and even with my laptop using a bluetooth adaptor
anyway, I dig it
>>52961509
I am really happy that this general is now a thing. Very comfy.
Sub $200 netbook I gotta throw my hat in for the ThinkPad X120e or X131e, very comfy and very nice overall, the trackpoint really makes it a great machine.

>This graphical horsepower can be produced by GPUs equivalen to the GTX 970 or the Radeon R9 290. Both these GPUs cost $349. So if we take a look at the sales data of these GPUs as well as the GPUs above this mark, we will be able to calculate something called the total available market for VR – which is the number of users that can actually run any VR product on these headsets. A slide from the VRLA Winter Expo 2016
AMD will never make the comeback, we've been hoping for one for years and years and all their products they produced hardly even 1up themselves and so behind Nvidia.

Are used workstations/ tower servers a good deal on ebay?
Say you'd get a 8-12-core machine for 300-500$.
Lots of ram, powerful and gpu can be upgraded in most systems for a decent one.
Really interested getting one for creativity and messing with VMs.
I know most units are around 6-7 years old already and even in idle they use around 150w.
Not seen a thread about these workhorses for a long while so might as well be one.
Some models I've searched: HP Z 4/6/800 series, Dell 3/5/7500
>>52959773
They're a great deal but sometimes you will need to compile your own kernel for them since the mainstream distros (Debian, CentOS) will often drop support for them before PCs

x86_64 aren't workstations. Workstations should be strictly risc based and not cisc/risc hybrid.

core 2 is always 10 degrees warmer, even immediately after I turn on the PC.
My computer is being bottlenecked by the hdd to the point of applications hanging and local ssd prices are stupid as in $102 + shipping for a 120gb 850 EVO.

Do people really need it still?
>>52958942
Both of my monitors use DVI. They're both from 2015, and they only have DVI and Displayport, and I'm not using that Apple shit
Well dual link DVI-I still supports up to 2k resolution, which is more than enough for a lot of current systems, so I imagine it's not completely useless.
