I can't get my new WD Blue 4TB hard drive to format. Could it be a bad SATA cable, or is the drive DOA?
>>53848657
try to use diskpart, clean

Isn't there a partition size restriction on Windows 7 or non-UEFI motherboards to be max 2TB?
>>53848657
Yes.
Tfw shits about to happen 3.5 blocks away from you

I literally live on campus at a university 3.5 blocks away. If you calculate it based off of the building I'm actually in, though, its 7.5, but that's not a meme number.
yet...
I worked on some personal projects where I scraped websites using R/Python but now I would like to scrape a flash-based web application like a lot of banks/brokers offer. Is this possible? I can't really select any text on it and right-lick just gives an info menu for FlashPlayer (see pic, sort of like when right-clicking on flash-videos). Is there a way to extract the numbers from that plattform? Any help would be appreciated. I asked /biz/ a while ago but nobody knew.
iMacros text extraction (unsurprisingly) doesn't work either, i.e. it can't scrape or get a hold of anything on those type of web plattforms.
>>53848588
I stumbled across something called Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which lets you transform text / numbers in image-files into plain text. So I could imagine running something like that in Python or C++ (if available) and then extracting the outcome into a .txt or .csv-file for example. This shall be my starting point: https://code.google.com/archive/p/pytesser/
but I am still looking for alternatives and would be thankful for any suggestions
>>53848588
Dump the flash, decompile it, or just listen on network requests with HTTPDebugger/Fiddler and write ur own tool.
>Why are you so retarded nigger?
Windows XP or Linux?
>>53848541
For a desktop? Windows 10. Linux is a server OS.

I'm about to scrape a whole lot of porn. Aiming for a few TB's with a scraper I built that will net me about 150 pictures/minute, and I'll be collecting mostly from aggregation sites like imagefap.com
Should I be worried about whether downloading that much, that quickly, will cause any trouble with the websites? I feel like there's a DDOS scare out there these days and that a large data transfer like I'm about to do would set off somebody's alarm. Obviously I know nothing about networking.
tl:dr Max transfer speed when scraping a lot...

>>53848524
nah bro as long as you don't drop connection its not a DDOS

>tl:dr Max transfer speed when scraping a lot of content from a website?
There are several methods firewalls or ids see ddos as. Configuration to block several connections from the same IP, or block when pages are visited out of order (like what you are doing, you are only downloading pics and not the pages or ads), or a download limit per connection, or see you using a user agent that it doesn't like (easy to fix), or more types of ddos detection types configurations...

any decent website will block you, send captchas or do something that will otherwise stop your scripts as soon as you start jamming their shit without consideration. i've been scraping shit for more than 5 years and you will be forced to be reasonable with your automation
also, if you're a retard about it, you break the system for everyone and it's just gonna make things harder. so low skilled programmers like you are the ones with the most to lose
Does an app bugs you if it doesn't have an icon that pleases you?
>>53848475
No, because i can always use another icon.
>>53848482
Nor is it difficult to change the icon.
>>53848475
no, but what does bug me is when someone says "Does an app bugs" instead of "Does an app bug".
I have wireless keyboard and mouse, and I love them so far, but the one problem I find is that I have to be changing batteries every so often.
Would you guys recommend me any wireless keyboard and mouse, that can be recharged, through USB?

What does /g/ think about the future of void linux? Is this the arch killer? it uses runit instead of systemd since people hate that and it's rolling release. However, it's also not the most mature distro as of now, doesn't have all that much documentation, and I have no clue how good the official repositories are or if it has an AUR-like replacement.
>inb4 shill please leave
I use arch on my laptop currently
>AUR-like replacement
you can contribute packages through github
>>53847757
Tbh I like systemd so I don't really care about Void myself. I anyone else likes it. Good for you.
>>53847784
what do you mean?
>>53847794
i'm not good enough at linux to even really care or know how to use/misuse systemd i haven't had a problem with it (at least not to my knowledge) but what didn't you like about it?

Looking for bleeding edge distro that is not arch linux based
Its not just kernel to be uptodate, but other packages as well...
What are my options?
>>53847231
just run antergos in auto update mode
have fun with your bleeding edge :^)
OpenBSD
Gentoo, Funtoo, exherbo, Fedora rawhide.
>tfw you fell for the mechanical keyboard meme
>>53847193
I know, I hate falling for superior hardware memes too
>He actually got tricked into buying a $100 keyboard
>B-but muh 50 million keypress rating
Stupid gimmick, you pay 5 times the price for a keyboard for it to last 5 times as long as a regular one.
>>53847271
that's worth it then, because you save yourself the hassle of having to replace it.
worth waiting for zen or should i just get the 6700k?
pic related.
>>53847111
>>53847117
I predict Zen will give you about the same performance of a high-end i7 for half the price, plus AMD4 will last unlike Intel's jewish sockets.
I'd say you should wait, you will benefit either way (today's Intel CPUs will decrease in price).
