Because it has been on alpha for decades, it will never be ready.

A9/9X already blow the competition out of the water.
Not to mention combine with iOS there is pretty much zero lag. How much more can they improve?
/g/ need to improve my home network (UK)
Currently, it's a shitey virgin media router.
I am thinking about putting it into modem mode and connecting a DD-WRT compatible router like pic related
any advice or tips for a newbie setting up a home network?
1. Buy router
2. Plug it in
3. Install your freetard OS
4. Off yourself

>>54409196
What's the point of a Speccy thread?
It's like showing off your specs but.. we're on an anonymous imageboard?
I'd post it but I'd make you too jealous

What e-reader does /g/ use? Is it a kindle?
Amazon Kindle Voyage is the only correct answer.
>>54409184
Kindle for availability.
It's a closed up box, thank god jailbreak released not long ago and fixed shit that should be included out of the box.

A-am I FOSS now?
I'd like to clear up some erroneous information about where I stand that is circulating on 4chan and perhaps elsewhere.
I have a low opinion of Gentoo GNU/Linux.
Gentoo is a GNU/Linux distribution, but its developers don't recognize this; they call it "Gentoo Linux". That means they are treating me and the GNU Project disresepectfully.
More importantly, Gentoo steers the user towards nonfree programs, which is why it is not one of our recognized free distros.
See the GNU distros list for the distros that I do recommend.

I listened to both Stallman's and Torvald's views these days and the Torvalds/OpenSource ideology makes more sense to me than Stallman's FreeSoftwareMovement.
I'd like to have a debate about this, like a "Change My View" thing.
Why isn't open source enough?
I don't get it ... I think the only important thing is that the source is open. Nothing else matters.
Why is Stallman not satisfied with that?
>>54409092
Because they can just close the source again, depending on the license.
>>54409126
Pretty much this.
Free software is a guarantee for the future. A free component will remain free for the rest of it's life, unlike an open source component.
>>54409092
>>54409227
Also, Torvald contributes under the GPL so he isn't 100 % against Free software either.

did the ancient greeks prefer macbook pros or pcs?
they had neither
>>54409023
some are suggestings time traelers traveled back and asked them.
They prefered pcs because as you see in in the picture, the computer had more than one port.
why were vista era laptops so ugly?
Most bad designs come down to one driving market force: "I want this to look like a million bucks but cost $3.50."
Because they were the start of consumer grade laptops, before that most people with laptops were just using them because they were provided by the company they worked at. They used the cheapest, shittiest components and materials to make them as cheaply as possible.

>Why is /g/ so against Intel/Nvidia?
You mean aside from the fact that you can't mention AMD without being shouted down by Nvidia/Intel fanboys, even when they're not relevant? There is no way on gods green earth you can call /g/ anything other than heavily Intel/Nvidia biased, with people at best suggesting others buy AMD so the green and blue boys don't have a complete monopoly.
What pays better? Web or app development?
Depends on the employer. It's whatever their development needs are. On average I'd say web but that's just a guess.
>>54408818
Alright. Thanks.
id say app because it looks more professional to have an interactive app on a tablet displayed at tradeshow x than a choppy interactive website.
That's where the dev money is at (outside of silicon valley imo), ridiculously inflated industries where they have tradeshows to impress professionals into buying into their crap (ie: big pharma)
