Are chromebooks any good? I want to install Linux on one, but most of the tutorials I've seen people are using something called crouton, is this just a virtual machine running within Chrome OS?
I just want a small 12" laptop for mainly internet/word processing, but I want to use Linux. An I better off just buying a netbook where I can install whatever I want on it?

If you don't care about the botnet, yeah they're pretty good
> is this just a virtual machine running within Chrome OS?
It's a Ubuntu chroot. You'll have to remove a protection screw to use it though

What is that?

Windows users should try with ":backend=dxinterop" added to the "vo=" line for proper dxva2-native acceleration.
Did you try the new madvr deringing thing?
Pretty great but very/too gpu intensive.
Madshi leaked that is a 6-passes shader.
Some comparisons are available here:

NNEDI3 from mpv is just a silly joke.
You can't compete with the enhanced NNEDI3 from madVR.
People that said NNEDI3 is a watercolor filter didn't try madVR one.
>fixed: image was too bright with linear light downscaling
same issue with linear light downscaling in mpv
Come and talk https://cibi.io/#CIBI
Can you explain what this is, please?

Doesn't seem to work for me, so.

Why not to use real radios? HF is fun, trust me.
I need help /g/aylords.
I made the stupid, STUPID mistake of going into Design in college and now at the very tail end of my graduation I realize this is nonsense and has no market value.
I'm seriously considering taking up one of the two fields mentioned in the title but I have some doubts as to which does what and which is more viable in the job marketplace.
So, I'd like to know how hard each one is for somene who's gotten rather rusty on his maths and which is superior or more viable.
Note: I live in Portugal and I'm 23yo,...

You better love math, and I mean LOVE it. Prepare to spend every waking moment of the next 4 years eating, breathing and shitting math.
>CS
A bit of math, but not too much, eat breathe and shit Java or C++ for 2+ years depending on where you go.
I did both, (well, I only did EE for one year) and I prefer CS, your results may vary.

>>54474920
That's graphic design and it's use is limited.
I'm in product design which is the shittier cousin of graphic design, and it's just pure bollocks and people coming out of the course have no real skills of value.
Trust me, we're just guys with ideas, little to no actual valuable skills. We literally can't do shit without an engineer.

Is a master's degree in CS worth it?
No, you'll need a PhD in CS to get a real job.
If you actually learn something, sure

Why are you posting on a tech board? The certificate expired on 09/05/2016 (day-month-year)
There's a topic in their forum suggesting to "just add an exception" - displaying yet another time awful security practices.

Why aren't you using the master race OS yet, /g/?
Hackintosh is so easy to install that even a literal retard could do it within a few hours. And it's free. There is literally no reason to use linux over OS X.
Compared to ganoo/loonix, OS X is:
>easier to install
>better hardware compatibility, things just work out of the box
>far better range of professional grade software (think adobe products)

Have others experienced freezing and sometimes crashing of Mac OS X 10.11.4 while using Safari? Is this a known issue or is it just me?
The way this manifests itself is that scrolling and mouse movements suddenly start to get slow and jerky. Then, within 30 seconds to a minute, the keyboard stops working and mouse clicks no longer have an effect, but the mouse cursor will still move. Then it either stays that way indefinitely or the system crashes. The only recourse is to force a reboot using the power button.
This happens to me every other day, but I cannot...

Hello I have updated a macbook pro retina with El Capitan and I found out today that I can't open system preferences>keyboard>input sources.
Every time I press input sources the system preferences crash and close.
My macbook pro freezes multiple times during the day during the use of different applications. This did not happen before El Capitan. I removed safari extensions, although ghostery shows up under etrecheck. Can someone spot a likely suspect in the following etrecheck? I read the other questions similar to mine and didn't see how they were solved.
Fuck me to pieces pls.
Gonna overclock?
Why no SSD?
100$ on a case? What are we, made of money?
You've done your research. Casting for opinions from /g/ is like rubbing sand into your breakfast
>>54474142
Completely ignorant when it comes to overclocking. Wasn't planning on it.
Don't feel I need SSD.
Case is honestly placeholder, I'm scared that shit won't fit. Any recommendations?
>>54474170
Eh, thought I'd ask just in case I've made some horrible mistake that has been overlooked. Obviously new at this.
